‘He thinks they’re cheering’: Donald Trump just got booed at Washington Commanders game, and the internet loves it

Donald Trump might think that his approval ratings have gone up since he assumed office for a second term as President of the United States this year, but that is far from the truth. In fact, the reality is quite the opposite.

If the insults hurled at Donald Trump on social media and other platforms weren’t enough evidence of his unpopularity, people are now ensuring they communicate their feelings to him in a more direct way. Recently, Trump attended a Washington Commanders game and was seated in the VIP section. As soon as he was visible to the public, the audience erupted into loud boos, filling the entire stadium with the sound. The booing intensified further when Trump took the microphone to address the crowd. It doesn’t take much to understand why he was booed, but for thousands of people to seize the opportunity to express their feelings toward him on such a prominent stage requires courage, and the people certainly demonstrated that.

If this reaction isn’t a marker of the declining popularity of Donald Trump and the Republican Party, then I don’t know what is. The audience’s response to Donald Trump’s presence during the recent game did not go unnoticed by social media analysts, who dissected the incident from various angles. One person on X (formerly Twitter), while highlighting Trump’s tendency to misinterpret situations, wrote:

“Trump is so out of touch he thinks they’re cheering.

Another person wrote:

“It seems like Americans realise that they are shopping in different places than billionaires, filling tanks at different gas stations than billionaires. I wonder what he’s thinking out there seeing all this middle finger pointed at him? “Who told me that my approval rate is skyhi.”

Several others echoed similar sentiments about the President of the United States, noting that he is deserving of the criticism he received from the people during the game.
