In what feels like the weirdest episode of MTV Cribs, he talks about his collection of curious items, including but not limited to marine biology specimens, octopus tentacles, skulls, “complete specimens of strange birds and malformed children,” and replicas of large machines. Inspired by European curiosity cabinets and the Disney research library del Toro surrounds himself with images and items that “provoke a shock to the system and get circulating the liveblood of imagination, which is curiosity.”

What do you think of Bleak House, friends? Hospitable?
