Oops! Trump wants Greenland, but Greenland does not want Trump or the United States

The United States may be dreaming about taking Greenland. However, the people residing in the territory aren’t too keen on surrendering themselves and letting the obnoxious orange-headed dictator in the White House and the country he represents rule it.

In a recently circulating video on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, while standing beside the President of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, can be seen vocalising his stance on a possible annexation attempt by Donald Trump and his administration.

Talking about the same, Nielsen mentioned that if Greenland had to choose between the United States and Denmark, “here and now”, then they would definitely choose the latter. He also said that the territory would “choose NATO, the Kingdom of Denmark, and the EU.”

Jens-Frederik Nielsen’s comments about the United States do not come too far from the comments by Danish President Mette Frederiksen, who recently advised the military to open fire if the United States attempted to invade Greenland. While the two countries may be NATO allies, Denmark’s representatives had made it clear that their relationship with the United States in respect to this aspect will not influence their actions if the US decides to attack Greenland.

Why does Donald Trump want to acquire Greenland?

Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to acquire Greenland from a national security perspective, and said that it needs to “own” it so that Russia and China cannot. He has also claimed (although there is no evidence to prove the same) that there are several Russian and Chinese ships in Greenland at the moment, hinting that the vehicles could possibly be used to kick-start an operation that would result in the takeover of the territory by the countries’ forces.

Additionally, Trump has also warned against using force to fulfil his imperialist dreams of ownership in Greenland, saying that the United States can attempt to take control of the territory either “the easy way” or “the hard way.”

Just a few days ago, on January 3, 2026, Donald Trump and the United States abducted the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Trump’s reasoning for this act was that Maduro was a narcoterrorist who supplied drugs to the United States, that was resulting in widespread addiction among the American population. Trump has also repeatedly labelled Maduro a “dictator”, a term often used on him and has boasted about emancipating Venezuelans from his treacherous practices. Sigh! Irony just did a somersault.
