‘Great power should not act on autopilot’: Morgan Freeman blasts Trump as a ‘convicted felon’ dragging America into chaos

Actor Morgan Freeman, known for Street Smart (1987), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), and the Dark Knight trilogy (2005–2012), may not have been overtly critical of Donald Trump in the past. However, through his support for Democratic individuals over the years, he has made it clear that he is not the biggest fan of the Dorito Dictator. This changed recently when Freeman, in light of recent events in the United States, spoke his mind about Donald Trump without holding back.
Morgan Freeman said a couple of things about Donald Trump and the state of the US under his rule during his recent appearance on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell to promote his latest movie, The Gray House. One of the most striking points he made, which has since gained significant attention on social media, including X (formerly Twitter), is that the current US president was a convicted felon and, despite that, holds one of the most important positions in the US and the world, owing to the significant amount of control the country has over nations around the world.
Morgan Freeman does not understand how Donald Trump became president
Since last year, several public personalities, including actors, have vocally expressed their disdain for Donald Trump, and now Morgan Freeman is joining them. As mentioned before, during his appearance on the recent episode of MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Freeman dissed Trump and called him for what he is: a criminal.
After asking if he could use profanity during the event, Freeman, discussing Trump, said, “We have somebody sitting in the White House who’s leading us down a sh-thole,” he said. “I can’t personally understand how a convicted felon, convicted, 34 felonious… is that a word? Counts of wrongdoing gets to be president. How do you do that?” In case anyone’s wondering what Freeman is referencing here, it’s the 34 felony counts he received for Falsifying Business Records on May 30, 2024, in Manhattan, New York, which had little to no effect on his life but remain a permanent stain in court documents.
Morgan Freeman is asking people to vote out the Dorito Dictator
During his recent appearance on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Morgan Freeman spoke at length about American politics. While he spoke significantly about the sorry state of the country under the current Trump administration, he also spoke about the ways people can ensure there is change for the better, and that youngsters have a huge role to play in that.
Highlighting how there’s still scope for Americans to free themselves from dictatorial regimes such as the Trump administration, Freeman noted, “I don’t know what I would say to young people, other than if you are at all aware of where we’re headed, where we are right now and where we’re headed. And if you don’t agree with it, there is one sure way to change the direction of our country: Vote.”
