Grandma Gets Her Granddaughter a Gund Peek-A-Boo Bear. There Are No Batteries. It Said: ‘I See You.’

Grandmother buys a Gund Peek-A-Boo Teddy Bear for her granddaughter from a garage sale. It's talking, but it doesn't have any batteries.

TikTok has no shortage of kids saying creepy things or owning strange toys, but this grandmother didn’t think that a teddy bear she got from a garage sale would haunt her daughter’s family for over two years. Jahlen Johnson (@jahlen.johnson) told the story of one of her followers, who’s currently being tormented by a spirit in a teddy bear.

A grandmother found a Gund Peek-A-Boo Bear at a garage sale for five dollars. It’s an interactive toy that raises a blanket every time its foot is pressed. Since the bear is working, the grandmother got the toy and bought extra batteries to go along with it.

Once her granddaughter, Anna, received the bear, she was obsessed with it. She named the bear “Timmy,” and it wouldn’t leave her side. Her siblings didn’t like the bear, but that didn’t seem to be an issue. Oddly enough, the bear was supposed to have more than one phrase, but it only ever said “I see you” every time.

Strange activity surrounding the teddy bear

Even Anna’s parents weren’t fond of the bear and hoped that she would eventually move on to another toy. Instead, Anna grew even more attached to the bear. At one point, the mother tried to place Timmy beneath all of the other stuffed toys in an attempt to divert Anna to another toy.

But somehow, she would always get her hands on Timmy, even if the toy was stored in a higher place than a child could easily reach. When the mother asked Anna how she got Timmy, she only told her, “What do you mean? I didn’t have to dig for Timmy.”

Things were definitely strange, but things wouldn’t escalate until one night, when Anna and her mother were home alone. They were on the couch, watching a movie, and Timmy was with them. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise in the hallway—both Anna and her mother turned to look.

When they turned back, they saw that Timmy’s body has shifted to the direction of the noise.

This strange occurence was the final straw for the mother—she was going to get rid of Timmy. When Anna was already asleep, the mother tried to take Timmy away, but the doll said, “I see you.” Needless to say, she failed to get the bear.

A disturbing revelation

The family decided to go on a trip to see the grandmother—the same one who purchased Timmy. Although the mother made sure Timmy was left behind, she caught Anna “talking” to Timmy. This led her to believe that her daughter had an imaginary friend of sorts.

Another family event came by, and so the family traveled again. Anna went back to her room at her grandmother’s house to play—without Timmy. The adults were gathered to unwind. It was a perfectly normal night until Anna started walking downstairs.

She had Timmy with her.

The adults were frightened by what had happened. When Anna put Timmy down, they grabbed the opportunity to get rid of the teddy bear. It was going to the dump or the bonfire—whichever was the case, taking out the batteries would be the responsible thing to do.

Except when the mother opened the battery compartment, there were no batteries inside. Timmy, who has been saying “I see you” for the past two years, has never had any batteries.

They burned the stuffed animal anyway when Anna wasn’t watching. The mother thought that their Timmy ordeal was over. But when they went back home, and she was tucking Anna in, her daughter said something odd.

“Wait, you forgot to tuck in Timmy,” Anna said. The bear was no longer there, but maybe Timmy was never a teddy bear after all.
