Mediocre: Charlize Theron Not Signed for Mad Max: Fury Road Sequels

Goin' to my green place.

George Miller has already made his plans for Mad Max: The Wasteland pretty public, but apparently his Imperator knows nothing about the project.

In an interview with USA Today, Charlize Theron was asked about the upcoming Mad Max film, and replied “What’s Wasteland? This is all news to me. I have not heard anything like that.”

Wasteland‘s script has been completed, but considering the many iterations Fury Road went through before arriving on screen, I wouldn’t be concerned that Theron seemed out of the loop if Hardy wasn’t already signed for three more films.

Miller has also said that he plans to make Wasteland back to back with Fury Road, so Theron’s apparent ignorance about the project makes me think there’s a surprisingly large chance that Our Imperator won’t be appearing in the first sequel–but that doesn’t mean we won’t see her later on in the franchise, or that Wasteland can’t feature an equally-as-awesome new female protagonist.
