Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and Benedict (Timothy Carlton) Cumberbatch in First Leaked Photos From the Set of Star Trek

To Boldly Go

MTV has recovered some set photos from the recently begun production of the sequel to J.J. AbramsStar Trek, and we’re betting that there are enough Star Trek fans and Sherlock fans in our audience that you’re slavering over any details about Benedict Cumberbatch‘s addition to the production.

We’re putting these behind the jump just in case, but there’s really nothing below here that you wouldn’t get from publicity photos or a trailer.

I mean aside, from the fact that Cumberbatch doesn’t appear to be wearing any effects makeup, and his ears are of an Earthly round, so we’re probably looking at a human, and not alien villain for this second outing.

Here’s Cumberbatch on the left, and Zoe Saldana on the right. Man. Those Starfleet skirts really are short, aren’t they?

And before you get your Shanter impressions out, we’ve been promised that Cumberbatch is not Khan.

Although it sure looks like the movie won’t be bereft of yelling, as Zachary Quinto lays on some classic moves.

Of course, there’s still no sign of this movie’s closest six-degrees connection to Doctor Who yet, but patience, young ensigns. It’ll happen.
