And So It Begins

So here’s a couple of first ladies of film (or first ladies in waiting) who are getting together to tell a pretty cool story. Variety is reporting that Emma Watson will has taken the starring role in Sophia Coppola‘s next movie The Bling Ring: The true story of a group of teenage girls who executed a string of break-ins of celebrity homes in 2009.

Emma Watson as the leader of a ring of teenage cat burglars? Count me in.

From Empire:

Coppola is writing and directing the film, which is based on the true story of a group of teenage girls arrested in 2009 following a string of break-ins at homes of personalities including Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom and Paris Hilton. The group became famous for pouring over TV shows and celebrity mags looking for jewellery, clothing and other items that caught their eye.

The irony is the criminals were already from fairly affluent homes, but had become enamoured of the jewel-encrusted lifestyle of Hilton and co.

Ahh, and I remember the days when Emma Watson said she wouldn’t act after the Harry Potter series. The Bling Ring, we will follow your progress with great interest.
