Donald Trump goes on a long rant about his own party members because they vote ‘against everything’

In one of the rather rare moments of his presidency, Donald Trump is appreciating the Democrats for something while demeaning the Republicans for the same. The topic is unity, and Trump believes that the Democrats are unparalleled compared to the Republicans. He argues that Democrats are more cohesive and supportive of one another, especially when it comes to making important decisions, such as voting on key issues.
On Wednesday, United States President Donald Trump spoke to the Detroit Economic Club about the outlook for the new year. While the agenda of his presence was to discuss the cutting of funds in sanctuary cities, Trump spent a significant amount of time talking ill about his own party members, especially those who do not blindly agree with him. As previously mentioned, he discussed topics such as co-operation and stated that the Democrats performed far better in that department than the Republicans. Here’s exactly what he said:
“They (Democrats) stick together. They don’t have some of the people that we have. I don’t know; it’s a genetic thing- it is something in the blood. We got some real losers, mostly great. But I wouldn’t use the name Romney because I’m in his sort of territory. So, I would never use that name, but alright, I’ll use it. They don’t have a Mitt Romney that votes against everything. They don’t have a Rand Paul that votes against everything.”
Continuing his rant about his party members not supporting him, Trump focused on Rand Paul and called him a “stone cold loser.” He highlighted that he had helped Paul get elected twice by supporting him and also taking part in his rallies, and that he does not understand Paul’s behaviour when he goes against him (Trump) and other Republicans while voting. He also took the names of other Republican officials whom he believes have backstabbing tendencies. These are Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Todd Young. Trump then went on to discuss Venezuela and used it as an example of the division within the Republican Party. Noting that several people from his party were against his actions in Venezuela, Trump implied that there was no basis for them to oppose him, as his operation had been immensely successful. He said:
They’re against the attack after they found out it was the most successful attack, probably probably the most talented, most brilliant tactically attack that we’ve had, maybe in a hundred years, and they’re against it. Why? It’s one thing if the attack failed, I’d probably do that too or change, I’d be in favour of then if it failed, I’d say I told them not to do it. That’s what they do. But here we have one of the most successful attacks ever, and they find a way to be against it. It’s pretty amazing. But it’s, and it’s a shame.”
