Geeking out for a moment here. This seems like the neatest idea. Disney is apparently researching ways to integrate augmented reality into coloring books. As people color in the picture in the coloring book, they’ll be able to see a 3D model also get colored in as it sways and bounces on screen. It’s a sophisticated work of tech, as detailed in the video above.
Can you imagine all the things you can do with this tech? And it runs on an iPad, so it’s not like you need specialized equipment. It’d likely be an app that works in tandem with a coloring book that you’d buy at a store. There’s a real special feeling associated with watching a character you helped create come to life, and it looks like this aims to do just that.
