Delta passenger witnesses touching scene as an elderly man cares for his wheelchair-bound wife: ‘Love was truly in the air’
TikTok user @reesamteesa has a message for everyone: never settle for less. Because there is always someone who will treat you the way you want and take care of you as you deserve, and she speaks from experience. In a video she posted on her TikTok account four days ago, which has gained about 34K views as of this writing, Tereasa recounts an experience she had while flying with Delta Airlines from Atlanta. This experience made her think about relationships and love, including the idea that people shouldn’t settle for less.
Tereasa, in her video, says that when she was boarding a Delta flight from Atlanta, she saw a couple of elderly passengers being assisted to their seats in wheelchairs by airline staff. Among them was a Black woman, whom Tereasa estimates was in her late eighties or early nineties, who was slightly ahead in line to board the plane, while a man she believes was her husband was behind her. Tereasa recalls how the man looked after the woman, checking on her and making sure she was okay. Even after they were seated, he ensured she remained comfortable and safe, doing the same throughout the flight. Tereasa, who observed all this closely, was moved by it. She then made the video, emphasizing that people should be conscious when choosing their partners because there is always someone who will love you as you want to be loved.

After Tereasa paid attention to the elderly couple in the line towards their seat, she noticed that the man behind in the line wished to be taken to his wife, who was ahead. Then, when Tereasa was waiting in line to go to her row, she noticed that the elderly man was adjusting his wife’s jacket, “making sure it is around her shoulders.” Then Tereasa saw him buckle her in her seat and proceeded to buckle himself in. Remembering the moment, Tereasa said she was so moved by his actions towards his wife that she could have cried.
Delving further into the story, Tereasa recalls the man asking his wife if he was okay, then calling an attendant when she dropped something on the ground. When the attendant asked if the man was okay, he said he was only if his wife was. Giving the two individuals made-up names, Tereasa said, “Abraham don’t play about Miss Myrtle.” Tereasa then continues the story, revealing that even after the plane landed, the elderly gentleman kept asking his wife repeatedly if she was okay, providing an example to Tereasa and others who may be observing them on how to love. “Ladies, gentlemen, you do not have to settle. You don’t because there is someone out there for all of us that is going to love us to the point where we are old, grey, silver hair, and will buckle us in our Delta airline seat,” Tereasa said, emphasising her key takeaway from the whole situation.
