d4vd Charged with the Murder of Celeste Rivas

Social media sleuths have long suspected singer d4vd of the murder of fourteen-year-old Celeste Rivas. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has officially charged the singer with first-degree murder.
“Today, I’m announcing the charges against David Anthony Burke, the musician known as d4vd, in connection to the brutal and horrific murder of Celeste, a fourteen-year-old at that time,” Atty. Nathan Hochman said, representing the DA’s Office.
The attorney, conveying the gravity of the case, described Celeste’s murder as “a parent’s worst nightmare.” The girl was found dismembered in a rented Tesla’s front trunk.
Three charges have been brought against Burke. The attorney also discussed the special circumstances surrounding the first-degree murder charge.
“Celeste went to Mr. Burke’s home on the night of April 2025, as alleged in the complaint, by invitation.” The attorney also alleged that Celeste was not heard from after visiting Burke’s home.
“This murder was committed for financial gain, as the evidence will show in court. The financial gain was for Mr. Burke to maintain his very lucrative musical career that Celeste was threatening on that particular night.” This is the second special circumstance.
“In addition to lying in wait, it is murdering a witness to an investigation,” Hochman said. The witness in question was Celeste. Notably, the investigation was about sexual crimes committed by d4vd against the girl, who was under fourteen years old.
The investigation was led by the LA Police Department in tandem with the DA’s office.
According to Hochman, the charges carry the possibility of a maximum sentence of life without parole, as well as the death penalty. Nevertheless, the ‘Romantic Homicide’ singer did not plead guilty and intends to defend himself from the charges against him.
Why did it take long for D4vd to be charged?
Despite finally bringing d4vd to heel, social media was still outraged. The overall consensus is that justice had been delayed for Celeste. They argued that online sleuths had connected the case faster than the DA’s office and the LAPD.
There were eerie connections between Celeste and the singer. Aside from being found in a vehicle rented under d4vd’s name, the music video for the singer’s ‘Romantic Homicide’ was also released on Celeste’s birthday.

But online theories don’t substitute for actual police investigation. Even if there is cause to believe that D4vd committed the crime, both the DA’s office and the LAPD had to create a solid case against the singer. Making a haphazard conviction would be wasteful, and justice may not be delivered to the victim. Essentially, this is the worst possible scenario to be reactionary.
Chief Jim McDonnell of the LAPD responded to the frustration people felt at the speed in which the investigation proceeded. He acknowledged the criticism his department faced throughout the seven months they’d been investigating.
“I want to be clear about something. My duty is not to fuel speculation. And that requires patience and discipline on everybody’s part,” McDonnell asserted. He added that by the time they discovered Celeste’s body, she had already been deceased for a significant amount of time. Because of this, crucial evidence had degraded or disappeared.
It’s not all jeers for the investigators, who’ve done their best to create a case against the singer. Many social media users were also upset at the adults that failed Celeste. They speculate that other adults must have known about the abuse but did nothing to protect the child.
Nothing can bring her back, but Celeste might finally receive the justice her case deserves.
