Naturally, this ends up having horrifying and disastrous consequences for everyone involved.

The flick has grossed over $332 million worldwide (and counting) and garnered attention from fans, critics, and Hollywood itself, becoming one of the most hotly debated and talked-about films of the year. Currently, it holds a rating of 94% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

High expectations await whatever Barker decides to do next. But what exactly are his upcoming filmmaking plans?

Curry Barker’s latest work actually wrapped filming in April 2026.

Anything But Ghosts sees Barker not only back in the director and producer’s seat, but also as co-writer with long-time collaborator Cooper Tomlinson. Additionally, he and Tomlinson both appear onscreen in the film, alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, and Violet McGraw. As with Barker’s last film, Blumhouse Productions is attached as one of the producers, with Focus Features acting as the U.S. distributor.

The plot of Anything But Ghosts follows two con artists pretending to be paranormal investigators who end up in over their heads when they encounter a very real dark spirit. And in a twist, Barker shared with an audience during a Q&A that the universe in this movie exists in the same universe as Obsession. Pay close enough attention, and you’ll find out what happened to Nikki after the events caused by the “One Wish Willow.”

Anything But Ghosts is far from being the only upcoming film on Curry Barker’s plate.

In addition, Barker was tapped in April 2026 to write and direct the next installment of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Though details are scarce on what the audience might see onscreen, Barker told Variety in a May 2026 interview, “It’s gonna be grounded, brutal, raw. It should be very, very uncomfortable.”

The most recent update on Barker’s career, though, is the news that he signed an alleged eight-figure deal to write, direct, and produce a third film with Blumhouse Productions and Universal label Focus Features. Sources are mum on the details of the movie for now, but have described it as another Barker horror original, so it’s sure to both delight and terrify audiences when it hits theaters.

Whatever he chooses to do after that, one thing is for sure — Curry Barker appears to have a shining future ahead.
