‘Don’t know whether to laugh or cry’: Louisiana couple drives 6 hours to get on a cruise ship. Then they realize they left something essential behind

A Louisiana couple decided to take a cruise. Then they realized that they left their suitcase behind, which had all of their belongings—shoes, clothes and essentials.
Social media influencer Millie (@tea.time.with.millie) posted a video with more than 5.7 million views in which she explained a conundrum. She and her partner forgot one of their suitcases at home, which happened to have all of their clothes in it.
“Please tell me there’s a store on this boat with clothes,” Millie’s partner said.
An underpacked journey begins
Millie and her husband packed all of their clothes in the same suitcase. When they left it at home, it left them with few clothing options onboard.
They drove six hours to their cruise, which meant they weren’t able to turn back around for their suitcase. They were stuck getting on the ship without any shirts, pants, or extras.
“We put all our clothes in the same suitcase. They got stores, they got shops on the boat,” she explained. But they didn’t know what would be available to them once they got there.
What could they do about the clothing problem?
Cruises do have gift shops that offer a small selection of clothing items. The clothing ranges from cruise ship to cruise ship, as every cruise line offers different amenities.
Some Celebrity Cruises, for instance, have Michael Kors boutiques. Other cruise lines have name-brand stores such as Kate Spade and Hugo Boss available for passengers.
Outside of luxury and name-brand retailers, the couple might’ve been able to find hoodies, T-shirts, and a few other items.
But cruises also have a limited variety that costs a premium onboard. Any forgotten item, such as a tube of toothpaste or a bathing suit, will cost exponentially more than it would at a port. Cruises, too, have a variety of ways they make money, even for small items like sodas. That’s why it can be difficult to survive on a cruise without essentials.
Did the situation resolve?
After realizing how little clothing they would have onboard, Millie and her husband told other passengers what they were experiencing. Eventually, other passengers became well aware of their situation. One person who was on the same ship even offered to help in the comment section of one of Millie’s videos.
“Girl I’m on this boat pls come to my room I will give you th extra outfits I packed. I hate that I just put two and two together. Love, an overpacker,” the commenter said.
Millie replied, saying, “I love this sm!!! thank you my girl! we love a girls girl.”

Later, Millie revealed that her friend overpacked and had let her borrow some clothes. Within three days of boarding, the ship docked in Cozumel, where they had additional opportunities to shop. In later videos, she appeared to have new clothing beyond her initial “survival supplies.”
