A workplace grudge took an unusually messy turn when a Burger King employee decided to make his exit memorable.
Quitting a fast food job usually involves little more than turning in a uniform and walking out the door. One Burger King employee reportedly had something else in mind. After weeks of arguing with his manager, he allegedly decided to spend his final days at the restaurant taking a bath in the kitchen sink before throwing water into a deep fryer.
A coworker filmed the bizarre incident, and the video later circulated online, prompting plenty of reactions to the employee’s approach to leaving the job. According to the account accompanying the video, the employee believed his manager had started giving him more difficult and exhausting tasks after their arguments, leaving him frustrated enough to quit.
He apparently did not want to leave quietly. On a day when the manager was reportedly absent, the employee took off his clothes and climbed into the restaurant’s kitchen sink. Then, after his very unconventional bath, he took water from the sink and poured it into the deep fryer, sending hot oil splashing across the kitchen floor.
The bath was weird. The fryer was the real problem.
There is something almost comically bizarre about the decision to take a bath at work, but the fryer stunt quickly turned the situation from strange to dangerous. Water and hot cooking oil do not mix safely, and the water reportedly caused oil to splash out of the fryer and spread across the kitchen.
The restaurant was reportedly unable to continue operating normally after the spill. The employee allegedly told coworkers that he did not care because he was leaving anyway, effectively turning his resignation into a problem that everyone else had to deal with.
That part of the story is what caught many commenters’ attention. Some focused on the obvious sanitation concerns of someone bathing in a commercial kitchen sink before using water from it to interfere with a fryer. Others pointed out that splashing hot oil around a working kitchen could have hurt someone.
The video also fueled a common workplace debate. Some commenters blamed the employee for taking his revenge too far, while others argued that the manager’s reported treatment of him deserved scrutiny.
A few suggested that better supervision might have prevented the dispute from reaching this point. Still, even commenters sympathetic to the employee’s frustration had to contend with what he actually did with it.

According to the account, Burger King later filed a lawsuit over the damage from the incident, including the reported cost of replacing the sink. The company also reportedly demoted the manager involved in the dispute over poor supervision.
That gives the dramatic quitting a much less comical ending than the sink video might suggest. The employee may have been ready to walk away from the job, but he left his coworkers with the mess, the restaurant with the damage and the company seeking compensation.
The reaction online largely followed those two sides. Some viewers laughed at the sheer absurdity of taking a bath at work, while others were more concerned about the potential safety and hygiene consequences. One commenter argued that the employee should have just left, while another urged people to focus on how fast-food companies treat their workers.
Whatever happened between the employee and his manager before that final shift, the easiest way out was always available. Quit and leave. Instead, the employee reportedly managed to make his last day memorable for everyone in the building, and considerably more expensive for himself.
