Several videos by content creators pointed out how off-putting the man’s behavior was, including posts from creators such as Shawnda (@lifecoachshawn) and Kayb (@prettyboykayb1). Kayb’s post specifically generated more than 3.5 million views, with many commenters wondering why the couple is staying together after seeing the now-deleted clip.

So, how bad was the “mantrum” posted by @chris_and_tori on TikTok?

Chris and Tori’s clip—a childish response to a simple mistake

Chris and Tori (@chris_and_tori), a content-creating couple currently living in New York City, regularly post videos showcasing slices of their life. But they recently shared a video that drew negative feedback.

That is because Chris appears to have a visible “man tantrum,” or “mantrum,” as Shawnda, one of the TikTok creators, called it. From what’s visible from Shawnda and Kayb’s clips of the video, Tori accidentally put one of his favorite T-shirts in the dryer pile. In the now-deleted post, Chris “marches” around the couple’s bedroom, chanting, “No people doing my laundry, right. Why is my shirt in the dryer pile?”

The couple quickly got responses from countless TikTokers in their comments section, as many wondered why Chris couldn’t do his laundry if he had special washing instructions for certain items. Then, people started stitching, saving, and reacting to the post in their own content

TikTok creators respond

In Shawnda’s response, she said, “This man is [doing] the equivalent of throwing up, crying, [and] sliding down the wall… He’s marching back and forth, arms and legs swinging, with a little song that he created and everything.”

She clarified that Chris was treating Tori worse than an employee, as he does not pay her to do his laundry. She also stated that Tori “having a toddler” in the house was not helpful for maintaining overall order in their home.

Kayb also had some choice words for the couple. At first, he questioned whether Chris was an actual, grown adult. He noticed that when Chris started getting significant hate in the comments, Tori began defending him. “This is the same cycle that I’ve been talking to y’all about for so long,” Kayb told his viewers.

The cycle he refers to is men’s incompetence and the general weaponization of behavior toward women. In other videos, Kayb discusses men deliberately trying to break their partner’s possessions or cheating for extended periods of time. Kayb’s videos specifically deal with men engaging in concerning, unruly behavior, hence why he responded to Chris and Tori’s post.

Did Chris and Tori respond to the situation?

According to commenters on Chris and Tori’s recent TikTok posts, the couple did respond to the situation. But they have since deleted the response from their social media pages.

Many TikTok commenters left questions on other videos, asking where the video and subsequent response went.

“So I’ve been looking at a bunch of your videos and it seems like your husband is just a regular guy. I can honestly say I thought he was joking and I didn’t find it offensive,” said one commenter. “I know you took down the explanation video, but was that the explanation? He was just joking. I am genuinely curious.”

Viewers, however, alluded to some of what Chris and Tori said in that response. Based on viewers who did see it, the original video was intended as a lighthearted post and a joke. Tori did not appear to post the video to flame Chris or put him in a bad light.
