Betty and Veronica are getting their own reboot! After updating Archie and Jughead, Archie Comics is rebooting Betty and Veronica with Adam Hughes (Catwoman, Wonder Woman) as artist and writer. Issue #1 hits shelves in July, and in the meantime we’ve got some gorgeous variant covers to show off from Colleen Coover, Erica Henderson, Alitha Martinez with Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Audrey Mok.
In an interview with Vulture last week, Hughes explained why Betty and Veronica will be rebooted: “Why is there a Betty & Veronica comic when they already appear in Archie? It’s good to have a book where it’s just about them, where the boys are just background characters. I want my Betty & Veronica to be timely and relevant, but not dated in 10 years.”
Betty and Veronica #1 will follow the on-again off-again friends as they deal with the news that Pops’ Chocklit Shoppe is about to be acquired by a giant coffee company.
