Atlanta Woman Bought a Vanity From Home Depot. Then She Got Two Extra Mystery Boxes Bigger Than Her
One of these Home Depot boxes is not like the others.
Avelyn (@its.avelyn) was excited to pick up the vanity she bought from Home Depot. But when she drove to the store, she got two extra mystery boxes, which she thought were part of her package.
“This is for Home Depot. I need you to come get this box, okay? Because I can’t bring this box back to your store,” Avelyn told TikTok. The extra boxes sat in her hallway, slanted against the wall. Avelyn explained that she didn’t want to wait another week for her vanity, so she went to Home Depot to claim her order.
Then, the lady at the store asked Avelyn how far her car was parked. From that tone, Avelyn thought, “Oh no, I’m in danger.” The lady then came out with three big boxes, and even Avelyn was perplexed.
“What kind of vanity is this?” Avelyn was surprised that her order seemed bigger than what she anticipated. Avelyn stood in front of one of the unopened boxes, and her TikTok clip showed one box was more than a head taller than her. But she didn’t think much of it and decided to lug all the boxes home.
“Mind you, they’re about a hundred pounds each. I’m shimmying, I’m using leverage,” Avelyn said as she loaded the boxes into her car. When she finished loading the two boxes, she realized she couldn’t fit the last and tallest one in the car and had to come back to Home Depot.

Avelyn arrived home and said she had to bring the boxes in all by herself. When she settled, she opened one of the boxes that clearly had her name on it. Avelyn said the box didn’t contain her vanity, and later speculated that it could be a pergola instead. While not as severe as a $4,000 laptop UPS delivery mix-up, Avery still struggled hauling the boxes home, only to find out that two of the packages might not even be hers. Nevertheless, Avery said she started panicking and called her partner. She said her partner told her to call Home Depot to take it back, but Avery kept opening the packages. She was still searching for her vanity.
When she opened the next box, she found her vanity. Because of the unusual situation, Avery said she meticulously listed the parts and checked if they were complete. After going through the items, she found out that all the vanity’s parts were in the same box, which meant the other two boxes were not part of her order.
“So now, I don’t know what’s in these two other boxes. I can’t take these back to the Home Depot,” she said. Now, Avery is calling on the store to take them back. She added, “If you go to pick up your stuff at the Home Depot and you don’t have it, it’s at my house. Maybe you can come and pick it up.”
In a follow-up video, Avery said that she refused to keep the extra two mystery boxes or sell them on Facebook Marketplace. Instead, she coordinated with Home Depot, and they agreed to retrieve the extra packages from Avery. Most importantly, she has started to assemble her vanity—the very reason she drove all the way to Home Depot in the first place.
