‘Arrest Them, IMMEDIATELY’: Man Just Wanted to Watch Spider-Man at the Theaters, Says He Had a ‘Miserable’ Time Because of Moviegoers Instead
Movie theater etiquette is dead.

Going to the movie theaters to watch a movie should be an enjoyable time, but for one man, the experience left him feeling exasperated instead. TikTok content creator @imsteeleb shared in a video that has since racked up over 4.9 million views his recent experience dealing with Spider-Man moviegoers allegedly lacking in theater etiquette.
According to imsteeleb’s video, he had returned from watching the recent installment of Spider-Man at the movie theaters, but claimed that he felt “miserable” during the movie screening. He clarified that his exasperation wasn’t because of the movie itself, but because of the two moviegoers seated near him, whom he described as “two felonious adults,” adding in his caption, “Arrest them, IMMEDIATELY.”
imsteeleb claimed that a man, whom he labelled as “Criminal Number 1,” had been sitting directly in front of the TikToker and would pull out his phone “every 15 to 20 minutes” to allegedly check for the time. “So every 15 to 20 minutes that I’m watching f*****g Spider-Man, I’d get a light that lights up like a f*****g lightning bug in the Alabama south directly in my eyeballs,” imsteeleb said.
TikToker’s experience watching Spider-Man was ruined
While there aren’t any stink bombs involved in this Spider-Man screening, imsteeleb claimed that the man’s phone light would appear during the movie’s climactic and sad scenes. But what made the man “criminal,” according to the TikToker, was when he allegedly stood up halfway to put his jacket on before pulling out his phone once again during the “pinnacle climax of the movie.”
It seems imsteeleb’s frustrations didn’t end there, as a woman sitting right next to the TikToker, who was called “Criminal Number 2,” was allegedly the “more felonious of the two.” imsteeleb claimed that watching movies at the theaters is a “communal event” where people can emotionally react, but the woman seemingly took it further than that.
According to imsteeleb, his issue stemmed from the woman repeatedly speaking and making comments during the movie. “One egregious thing that you may not do is comment on the movie while it’s happening. Comment on your emotions,” imsteeleb said. In response to the woman, he said in the video, “Shut up!”
Movie theater etiquette needs to be practiced
imsteeleb claimed that the most “horrific” thing the woman did was to take a photo of the movie as it was playing, which he alleges happened three times throughout the screening. “Burn her at the stake! Burn her at the f*****g stake,” the TikToker stated.
imsteeleb alleges that “movie theater etiquette is dead.” He ended his rant by reminding moviegoers to turn off their phones, and while they are allowed to react, they should not be speaking loudly during the movie.
Viewers agreed with imsteeleb’s sentiments, and even urged others to speak up and report disturbances to the movie theater’s staff. “I need y’all to free yourself of the shackles of being seen as a Karen. I tattle to the staff the minute someone passes my threshold of irritation,” one commenter said.
Another TikTok user argued that the lax attitude being promoted in modern times resulted in such behavior. “The ‘I don’t owe anyone anything’ attitude has ruined polite society,” the user said. While other TikTokers have a more straightforward approach: “I yell at people. I don’t care anymore.” Either way, moviegoers are hoping movie theater etiquette is practiced—or they might just end up walking out mid-screening.
