‘These are both the same ID’: Applebee’s manager stalls identical twins’ margarita order until nearby diners check the cards

Double the ID trouble just for margaritas.

Being an identical twin can apparently make ordering a margarita more complicated than it should be. Two brothers found themselves in such a predicament after an Applebee’s manager allegedly became convinced they were using the same ID.

Shared by TikTok user @mamonzita, the clip shows the twins locked in a disagreement with a manager who insists their identification cards have the same number. “I’m telling you these are both the same ID as far as the number goes,” the manager tells them.

One of the brothers responds, “That’s really cool.” The manager disagrees, explaining that he can’t serve two people using the same ID.

Other customers checked the twins’ IDs

The brothers weren’t exactly short on witnesses. As the disagreement continued, they turned to nearby customers, who had a look at the IDs for themselves.

“Are you guys seeing this?” one brother asks. “Am I crazy?” The other customers looked over the cards and apparently spotted what the manager hadn’t. “They’re not the same driver’s license number,” one customer says after comparing them.

The twins were even willing to bring in some more official referees. One of the brothers suggested calling the police and told the manager he would leave the restaurant if that was what the manager wanted.

ID disputes can turn an otherwise ordinary restaurant visit into something much more complicated. In another Applebee’s encounter, a customer at a New Jersey location claimed a manager bent her driver’s license while checking whether it was real. Her group was eventually asked to leave, and she later said she emailed Applebee’s and filed a police report.

Fortunately for the twins, this disagreement didn’t end with anyone getting kicked out, damaged IDs, or the police arriving. After several customers got involved, the manager returned with a different conclusion.

The twins eventually got their margaritas

“You guys are good then,” the manager says when he returns in the clip. The twins ultimately got their drinks, though the video doesn’t show exactly what changed the manager’s mind.

Sometimes, restaurant misunderstandings need surprisingly little fuel to spiral. One diner left a server trapped in a baffling back-and-forth after repeatedly asking about the difference between two chocolate desserts, despite the server explaining the options several times.

For identical twins, being mistaken for each other isn’t exactly an unimaginable problem. However, commenters suggested that proving two similar-looking people are actually siblings can occasionally require more effort than expected. “Did he read the names? like what,” one TikTok user commented.

Another commenter chimed in, saying something similar happened to her and her fraternal twin. According to her, a bartender became suspicious because they had the same address and date of birth, eventually calling their mother to confirm that they really were twins.
