Early starts can be tough, and all of us need to sleep in once in a while, but at what cost? Life Noggin‘s video about the effect that lying in bed for a long period of time would have on your body makes hibernation look more scary than comforting. Animated by Steven Lawson, directed and voiced by Pat Graziosi, and written by Kaylee Yuhas, “What Would Happen If You Never Left Your Bed?” makes you look at your mattress a little differently.

While never leaving your comfy bed sounds great in theory, the video ruins the fantasy completely, beginning with a NASA experiment where a man was paid to lie in bed for 70 days at a 6 degree angle to stimulate the effect microgravity on astronauts during long haul flights. Dream job? Not really. The man’s heart rate shot up and he nearly collapsed when he tried to get up afterwards.

Of course, it’s not a surprise that never leaving your bed probably isn’t good for you, but the lesson goes on to list other symptoms that could occur, including but not limited to bed sores, losing most of your muscle strength, fatigue, decreased blood volume, kidney stones, and osteoporosis. Oof, poor Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, I hope they’re getting the treatment they need.
