Amazon Offers to Pay Couple After ‘Unacceptable’ Actions of Delivery Driver Who Ruined Their Lawn

An Amazon delivery driver has been fired and the company has offered to pay for repairs to a couple’s front lawn after the driver made the baffling decision to drive over the grass instead of using the perfectly fine driveway a few yards to their left.

The homeowners clearly put in work to maintain their front lawn. In the video, the grass looks to be a healthy shade of green and it seems to have been recently cut. However, the lawn was completely ruined after an Amazon delivery decided to inexplicably drive across it for no reason leaving tire tracks and dead grass in their wake.

Amazon delivery workers can sometimes be careless drivers but this video takes the cake. The clip shows the vehicle being driven across the lawn, right up to the door of the home which belongs to a Brian and Elisha Magill, a couple in Corydon, Indiana. It’s not clear why the driver decided to cut across the grass, especially when it appears there is a driveway to the left which could have gotten the driver just as close.

The vehicle reportedly belonged to a courier who was delivering an Amazon package to the address. The driver can be seen casually hopping out of the car as if nothing’s wrong before she delivers the package. The couple who live in the home noticed the tire tracks much later and  only realized the cause once they reviewed the security footage.

Elisha claimed that she and her partner were “completely shocked” when they first saw the footage as per USA Today. “At first, we were frustrated and couldn’t believe what had happened,” she added.

Amazon responds

Amazon responded to the delivery woman’s actions. According to WHAS11, the woman was delivering with Amazon Flex, which technically makes her an independent contractor working with Amazon rather than for the company.

Regardless, in a statement from Amazon spokesperson Leigh Anne Gullett to TMZ, the company condemned the delivery woman’s actions. “We hold delivery partners to high standards, and the actions shown in this video are clearly unacceptable.” She states.

The spokesperson continues, claiming that Amazon will no longer be working with that particular delivery driver while also confirming that they had contacted the couple to repair the damage done. “We’ve connected with the customer to make things right, and the delivery partner is no longer delivering Amazon packages.” Elisha also confirmed that the company had indeed reached out to repair the damage as per USA Today.

Ultimately the story is more bizarre than anything else, Elisha even admitted “after the initial surprise wore off, we found ourselves laughing about it because the situation was so unexpected and bizarre.”
