‘Always Breaking Up’: Trump Calls Elon Musk ‘80 Per Cent’ Super Genius and ‘20 Per Cent’ He Makes Mistakes in New Video
Since Donald Trump began his second term as President of the United States this year, his relationship with longtime friend Elon Musk has somewhat deteriorated, with numerous examples illustrating this gradual shift. However, it seems their relationship has now entered a more positive phase, as Trump has returned to praising (somewhat) Musk after months of the opposite. He must be so happy right now!
In a recent video that has currently been going viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Donald Trump can be seen engaging with members of the press while aboard Air Force One. During a particularly intriguing moment of his interactions, Trump can be seen praising his long-lost friend Elon Musk. He acknowledged hanging out with Musk at Mar-a-lago recently, but kept the specifics of their meeting under wraps. He, however, did share a few thoughts about Musk, describing him as “great.” He elaborated further, stating that he views Musk as 80 per cent “super genius” and acknowledges that he makes mistakes in the remaining 20 per cent. Trump also emphasised that, regardless of the ratings he gave Musk, he believes Musk is a good person with good intentions. There is a significant irony in a billionaire being labelled as one of the good guys by another, especially when both are corrupt. But that’s a discussion for another time. Here’s exactly what he said about Musk:
“Elon’s great. I say about Elon, he’s 80% super genius and 20% he makes mistakes, but he’s a good guy. He’s a well-meaning person .”
As mentioned earlier, Elon Musk and Donald Trump recently met at Mar-a-lago, where the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, was also present. On January 5, 2026, Musk even posted a photo from their meeting on X, captioning it:
“Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS. 2026 is going to be amazing!”
This led to discussions among the public, who largely believed that the former friends had reconciled and were no longer in conflict.
For those who need a little refresher, Trump and Musk had been at odds for almost the entire year of 2025. Some of their disagreements were political, with Musk challenging Trump’s policies as president, while others were personal, including Musk’s request for Trump’s removal (via impeachment) from office and his claims about Trump being mentioned in the controversial Jeffrey Epstein documents (which we now know is true).
