Alon Aboutboul Cast as “Mad Scientist” in The Dark Knight Rises

Turn on your speculation helmets, folks: Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul has been cast in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises, and — as usual — the part he’s playing has fans wondering if he’s going to be playing the villain Hugo Strange. This comes after the character has been described as “a particularly evil mad scientist.” Add that to the possibility of Ra’s Al Ghul’s Lazarus pits and how those might be connected to Bane, and this is … mostly unconfirmed.

So far, the only confirmed villains are Bane (Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). Co-star Gary Oldman has also stated that the whole story will focus on an as-yet unannounced villain. But the shots from the set in India that came out last week reveal what might be Al Ghul’s Lazarus pits that might be filled with Venom, which, if it’s true has the connection to Bane. Aboutboul’s characters may be involved with the creation of that Venom, and maybe that scientist will be Hugo Strange.

There is also some progress being made on the shoot; now finished in India, filming has now moved to London where they are filming scenes that take place in the police station. Here is that building, production trucks outside (pics from Hollywood Chicago):

Nearby residents were also told that guns would be going off. So, also confirmed: guns.

Also: Maybe. Maybe maybe maybe.
