A woman took a flight with Allegiant Air to Houston. Then she realized just how roomy the seats felt.

“What’s up with Allegiant Airlines being CHEAP AF and the leg room is crazy why didn’t yall let me know!?” said Angelina Adams (@boujieangelina).

The TikToker continued and said that “Round trip DIRECT flights with checked bag included BOTH ways… [were] $175 all together.”

Her positive post about the airline received more than 1.9 million views, with commenters sharing their opinions about the company.

How much legroom do Allegiant Air seats have?

Adams isn’t the first person to compliment Allegiant Air on some of its perks when compared to other low-cost carriers.

Thrifty Traveler, a budget travel website, said that most Allegiant Air flights have “30 inches of pitch.” The blog estimated that the airline gives its passengers slightly more room than other low-cost carriers.

Most large-scale carriers like Delta, Southwest, American Airlines and even JetBlue have between 31 and 33 inches of space, however.

The publication also noted that “[customers] can purchase extra legroom with Allegiant’s Legroom+ and get an extra 4 inches. Legroom+ seats are in the first-row bulkhead section of the plane and exit rows over the wing.” Otherwise, customers have to stick to the 30 inches of pitch.

A new flight with Allegiant, then, can feel comparably less roomy, but it still offers marginally more room than some airlines that only guarantee 28 inches of space. Spirit Airlines, which is now sem-defunct, offered 28-inch seats to its passengers according to the publication. Frontier Airlines offers similar amenities with 28 inches of pitch.

Are Allegiant Air seats comfortable?

While the extra room is a plus for low-cost travelers, commenters questioned whether the seats on the flight were comfortable.

Most online blogs and publications have said that Allegiant Air offers its passengers less comfortable seats when compared to other airlines. “Seat padding is minimal, and there are no seat-back entertainment screens or power outlets,” Simple Flying, a travel publication, said.

The publication said that “passenger comfort may be limited, particularly on longer flights.”

Taller fliers who have previously reviewed the airline have referred to the legroom as “miserable.”

“I can’t imagine anyone with an even longer leg length shoe-horning into these seats. Hard to believe the FAA permits such small spacing, or that people will loyally fly in such seats,” one reviewer said.

What did viewers think?

One viewer said that the Allegiant Air seats look like “lawn chairs on a bus.”

“Those chairs look about as comfortable as a wooden church pew,” one viewer said.

But others praised the airline for its amenities.

“I always liked them. the down side is they only fly to certain airports on certain days. but definitely affordable,” one viewer added.

Another said, “I always fly Allegiant. Is it comfortable? No. Is it pleasant? Also no. But it is cheap.”
