A Kansas woman decided to give a homeless stranger her $7 in change, until the woman pulled out a weed pipe: ‘She’s probably better off’

We hope she enjoyed her Acai bowl, at leasy.

Kansas Woman Spots a Homeless Woman and Decides to Donate Her $7 Change. Then the Woman Takes Something Out of Her Bag: ‘She’s Probably Better Off’

Acts of casual street charity usually follow a predictable script. You see someone in need, offer a bit of cash, and go on with your day. But for Kansas creator Carol (@carolanndolezal), an attempt to help an allegedly homeless woman after work took an unexpected turn that left her rethinking her spare change.

Carol began her TikTok video by revealing that she got off early from her salon job that day. So, she decided to treat herself to an acai bowl at a new spot just a block away. On her walk over, she allegedly spotted a woman sitting on a bench, who looked homeless to her.

But when Carol made up her mind to donate her $7 change, the scene allegedly morphed into a bizarre moment that made her decide to hold onto her cash instead.

Carol presumed a woman she spotted while running an afternoon errand was homeless

While walking to the Acai shop to get herself food after work, Carol said she noticed a woman sitting on a public bench. She was allegedly washing her feet and letting them air dry.

Observing that all the stranger’s belongings were allegedly packed into Ziploc baggies to keep them dry and clean, Carol assumed the woman was living unhoused.

This supposedly made Carol decide that she wanted to help out in a small way. According to her, she planned to make her purchase, head back over, and offer the woman her remaining $7 in cash along with a food recommendation for the local bowl shop.

The creator reconsidered her offer to the “homeless” woman after a sudden reveal

As Carol walked back toward the bench to greet her with a smile and hand over $7, the encounter took a sudden detour. Right as she approached, the “homeless” woman allegedly pulled out a large smoking pipe from her belongings. According to Carol, the woman then began lighting up marijuana right there in the middle of downtown.

Carol claimed that she was surprised by the public display, and paused to reconsider giving her the money. “Well, sh–t. You know, she’s got weed, she’s probably better off than I am!” Carol said in her recap. She then revealed that she decided to keep her $7 to herself: “So f–k it, I did keep my seven dollars.”

Carol reflected on differing priorities after keeping her change

Reflecting on the alleged event in her video, Carol pointed out that she doesn’t keep up with current prices for recreational items. She also clarified that she meant no personal disrespect by her reaction. “No judgment, but you should be good, you know?” Carol expressed toward the end of her storytime. “Priorities. Mine’s food, maybe hers isn’t, I don’t know,” she added.

Street encounters can unfold in completely unpredictable ways, regardless of how much truth there is to Carol’s story. So, whether you choose to give cash, offer food, or simply walk away, how you navigate everyday interactions on the street remains entirely up to you.
