Miami Man Went Up to a Woman at the Gym. He Came to Warn Her, but She Threatened to Call the Police on Him: ‘I Tried to Do the Right Thing’
No good deed goes unpunished.
Tristin Pouncil (@tgottavision) from Miami allegedly tried to defend a woman at the gym from a man. But instead of being thanked for his act, he claimed the woman threatened to call the police on him.
“And to the women that go to the gym—if I, as a man, go up to you—I don’t want your name, I don’t want to flirt with you, and I definitely don’t want your number,” Pouncil prefaced his story on TikTok. In his clip, captioned “I tried to do the right thing,” Pouncil claimed that he only wanted to ensure the woman’s safety at the gym. While he was doing his bench reps, Pouncil looked up and saw an older man beside him.
The man was allegedly moaning, which caught Pouncil’s attention. He checked on the man, and the man motioned to the woman who was working out ahead of them. He allegedly responded, “Yeah, I’m just… Looking at the cutie over there. Do you see her?” Shocked by the man’s reply, Pouncil followed the man’s gaze and saw a woman in pink gym attire. Her back faced them while she worked out on the stairmaster.
“Yeah, bro, but you probably shouldn’t be staring. That’s kind of weird, don’t you think?” Pouncil said, but the older man shrugged the comment off. He allegedly replied, “Hopefully, if I stare long enough, she’ll recognize me.” Pouncil was irked by the man’s words and decided to let the woman know that a man had been watching her during her gym session.
Punished for looking out for a stranger at the gym
“But I shouldn’t have [expletive] let her know,” Pouncil said. He waited for the woman to finish with her stairmaster sets before approaching her. Pouncil said, “Hey there, excuse me. I don’t know if you know buddy back there, but he was looking at you kind of weird. I just wanted to make sure.” He looked out for her safety, the way these two strangers warned a woman from Chicago about her boyfriend. But while Pouncil was talking to the woman, she allegedly had Apple AirPods Max on. She swept one side of the headphones out and then allegedly glared at Pouncil.
“Why are you talking to me right now, boy? Bye,” the woman allegedly snapped. It appears that she didn’t hear his explanation. Nevertheless, the woman put the headphones back on and went on with her next workout. Pouncil commented, “I feel dumb as [expletive]. Why did I try to save the day? Why did I try to do that? Why did I want to be the hero of the story today?”
The cops almost got involved
Eventually, Pouncil went back to his workout and started doing his dumbbell curls. He noticed that the older man was doing dumbbell rows from a distance. Although Pouncil tried to keep to himself, he said he noticed the man pull out his phone.
“Then he moves his phone over to where this woman at,” Pouncil accused. At first, he thought the man was only confused about how to use his phone. But then, Pouncil heard the camera shutter sound. Pouncil confronted the man, asking him if he took a photo. The man claimed his phone “hasn’t been working” all day.
“Let me see it. Maybe I can help you,” Pouncil said. He immediately went to the man’s album and deleted the photos of the woman. Pouncil handed the phone back to the man, but tried to go up to the woman again to tell her what just happened. But before he could even get three steps closer, the woman’s attention turned to Pouncil. He tried to say something, but the woman allegedly cut him off.
“Boy, if you come up to me again, I’m about to call the police. Why do you keep coming up to me? Why do you keep looking at me?” the woman allegedly said. Pouncil said he only wanted to help, but after hearing the woman’s threat, he decided to walk away and finish his workout. While some are reluctant to accept help from others, another woman readily teamed up with an online stranger to track the identity of her dating app match.
