NYC Woman Rides a Yacht She Booked on Klook, Then Finds Out She Was Crashing a Stranger’s Birthday Party: ‘Most Embarrassing Thing’
A memorable travel experience.

A woman believed she was about to embark on an exciting yacht ride across the Han River, only for her to get off the boat before departure, feeling embarrassed. Content creator Addie (@byaddieee) shared a video on TikTok detailing the moment she realized she inadvertently crashed a stranger’s birthday party during her South Korea trip.
In the first few seconds of the video, Addie can be seen walking aboard a yacht wearing a life jacket, before it showed her seated on the vessel with other passengers. Moments later, the video cuts to Addie off the yacht as she described the “most embarrassing thing that just happened to me” that made her “want to cry.”
According to Addie, she visited the famous Han River in South Korea after having booked a yacht ride through the travel app Klook. She claimed to have noticed a group of people heading towards one of the boats before proceeding to head to the same boat, after having assumed that it was the one she booked.
Everything seemed normal on the yacht… until it wasn’t
“I booked a yacht, and I came to a location. And then I saw, like, people going to a yacht,” Addie said. “I’m walking, walking with the people. I go inside. Nobody’s asking me for my ticket. Nobody’s doing anything, and I just go on it.”
Things seemed normal to Addie at first, despite not getting asked for her ticket—or even when she allegedly noticed her fellow passengers kept looking at her. “Looking back, I have no idea how I didn’t notice because everyone was looking at me and I was the only foreigner there,” Addie told PEOPLE.
According to Addie, the moment that she seemed to realize something was wrong was when another passenger came and sat next to her—asking her about someone named Kevin. “A girl sat next to me, and she was like, ‘How do you know Kevin?’” Addie recalled the question that seemingly left her baffled. “I was like, ‘Kevin? Who the hell’s Kevin?’”
Addie supposedly learned that the yacht she was on was booked for an event and that everyone was there for the same reason: Kevin’s birthday party. Addie said she was left with little time to process the situation she found herself in, as the yacht was about to depart.
“The freakin’ yacht was about to take off. And I noticed, like, last minute [that] I was on the wrong freaking yacht. So, I get off,” Addie said. But before she could fully disembark, Addie claimed that the birthday celebrant himself had approached her to tell her she could stay.
Addie finds the correct boat
“Oh, this is for my birthday party. If you want to stay, you can stay,” Kevin said, according to Addie. Despite the kind offer, Addie allegedly refused as it was a birthday party where she didn’t know anyone—and a stranger’s at that.
“At the time, I thanked him for inviting me. But decided to leave because I felt so out of place, uncomfortable and embarrassed that all I could think about was getting off the boat,” Addie reportedly said. Although she initially refused the invite, Addie said she had a moment of regret about possibly missing out on a memorable experience.
Addie eventually got off the yacht, dropping her sunglasses on the way, before making her way back to the dock to search for the correct boat. When asked about the potential friendship that came from the incident, Addie said, “I didn’t end up making any friends from the birthday party. So our accidental yacht friendship was unfortunately very short-lived.”
Viewers were left amused by Addie’s entire ordeal and the response she had upon learning about Kevin. One comment read, “Asking who’s Kevin on Kevin’s bday yacht is actually hilarious.” Others reassured the TikToker that sometimes travel mishaps happen, like the time a woman accidentally ate two snacks instead of one on a plane. “Nothing embarrassing about this btw!! Things happen,” a user said.
In a follow-up video, it seemed that Addie found the yacht she booked, although she jokingly asked if she was on the right one when she found a “MARRY ME” sign. One user responded to her joke, saying, “Are you sure you’re not crashing someone else’s proposal on the wrong yacht?” Nevertheless, Addie’s experience was definitely one for the books.
