Woman Has a Dress Custom-Made for Her Greece Honeymoon. Then She Opens It: ‘That Is Not What I Asked For’
Her honeymoon dress isn't quite what she asked for.
Buying clothes online can sometimes be a gamble. Even custom-made dresses can fail. Gina B. (@ginab.xo) shared her experience with a Nigerian designer on TikTok. Despite her dissatisfaction with the designer’s service, she was happy with the finished product. But social media users have pointed out that the dress she wanted and the dress barely look alike.
“I shipped this dress straight from Nigeria to Greece for my honeymoon, so let’s unbox it together,” Gina proudly shared online. Although she was excited, Gina also said she had “the worst experience” with the designer of the dress. She showed an inspiration photo on TikTok, and it was a beaded dress in different shades of blue. There was a wave-like swirl at the side of the dress.
“I paid the deposit. Everything was good,” she initially said. Days passed, and Gina messaged the designer asking for progress on the dress. It isn’t unusual for customers to ask for updates about their custom designer dresses. Some customers may even be disappointed, even though they had ample time to prepare. For instance, this bride had time to commission a custom-made wedding dress, but in the end, she alleged that her designer’s end product closely resembled a dropshipped SHEIN dress.
But in Gina’s case, she alleged that her designer did not reply to her constant follow-up messages. When they sent her a photo of the dress, Gina was disappointed. She said, “Not what I asked for. That is not what I asked for.” She tried calling the designer, and she showed a call log that suggests the designer did not pick up.
“They proceed not to respond to me for days. Mind you, flight booked. We’re coming,” Gina said. Her upcoming trip to Greece was close, and she intended to wear that dress for her honeymoon.

“In my bugging, I had to make them a collage,” Gina said. She also asked her contacts from Nigeria to help her with the situation, and eventually, she and the designer agreed to remake the dress. Because the deadline was tight, she asked the designer to ship the dress directly to Greece instead of the United States so that she could still wear it on time.
“So, hopefully, it looks better than my experience,” she said. Gina went through great lengths for her dress, and when she opened the packaging, she said some beads fell out. Nevertheless, she went on to unfold the dress.
“No, but it looks good though!” she said, happy with the finished product. She thinks it matched the Santorini vibes she hoped for, which were captured in the multiple shades of blue on the dress. However, many social media users don’t think the inspiration photo matched the dress perfectly.
Social media was split about the dress
Some commenters still called the dress beautiful, but plenty weren’t convinced. One wrote, “Is it me…or the dress looks nothing like the reference photo?”
Another person wrote, “It’s not what you asked for baby girl, I’m sorry.” But there were also quality concerns, as Gina herself pointed out that every step she took, some beads fell out. “I don’t know how far into the city I’ll get with this look,” she said. Despite her issues with the beads, Gina was still satisfied with how the dress fitted her, and she still wore it around Santorini. It’s unknown which designer or brand she got the dress from, as Gina did not disclose it in her videos.
