Woman Was Leisurely Shopping at Walmart, Then a Lady Tells Her She Was Being Followed by Three Men: ‘Just Terrifying’

From trying to reject unwanted romantic advances to simply being out alone, women’s safety in society has always been widely questioned. A woman who was out shopping alone at a Walmart in the evening shared her “terrifying” experience of when she was allegedly followed by three men around the store.
TikTok content creator and photographer Baleigh Marie (@baleighmarieh) said in a video that she was at Walmart leisurely shopping. She claimed the incident happened when she was browsing through the women’s department when a lady supposedly approached her to warn her that three men were watching and following her around the store.
According to Baleigh, the men were wearing the same hat, carrying their phones, didn’t have a buggy cart, and were repeatedly looking in her direction. The newfound information left Baleigh “freaking out” and wondering what to do, considering she was shopping on her own.

Baleigh said she immediately contacted her husband and brother, but neither was able to come get the content creator at that time. She claimed she ignored one of the men when they tried talking to her, and instead, moved toward the checkout area.
Baleigh shared that she approached another customer and explained her predicament, and ended up being accompanied by the man and his wife while she finished her checkout and explained the situation to an employee. “I was nervous, I was scared. I wanted to get out of there,” Baleigh said.
According to Baleigh, she contacted a family friend working as a police officer and later explained to authorities what happened. Baleigh said she warned others about the men who followed her on her Facebook, and claimed others have had similar incidents involving the same men.
Baleigh alleges that she received a call from an officer, who contacted Walmart to investigate the incident—and the explanation was seemingly less grim than she thought. According to Baleigh, she was informed that the retail chain employs staff to go undercover as part of loss prevention.
Undercover shoppers looked sketchy
“Walmart hires undercover shoppers to look kinda sketchy. […] They look the part of, like, someone that would take you,” Baleigh said. The officer alleged that the undercover staff frequent areas where theft was a concern, which was the women’s department.
Baleigh claimed that she was “mindblown” and felt “so stupid” after making a police report, posting online, and calling people—only for her to find out the truth of who the men were. However, she also justified her concerns based on the actions that she saw at the time. One employee at Walmart even shared their tricks as an undercover shopper.
TikTokers agreed that Baleigh’s reaction was valid, as many have experienced a similar incident. Some even wondered how customers can distinguish staff from actual danger. “And how do we know when its an employee or someone sketchy?” one user said. “I’m just trying to figure out how I would know the difference between an actual creep vs an employee following me?? I refuse to be lax hoping it’s an employee, and then get kidnapped because I wrote it off as nothing.”
Another praised the lady for warning Baleigh about the men, “that lady who came and told you!!! love her for noticing and saying something.” Another user even criticized Walmart for their lack of cashiers and visible staff: “They hire floor walkers, but have no cashiers, and no one to help us. I had to find someone to open a locked case for 14$ sandpaper!” Either way, it seemed this was an incident that could continue to happen as part of their loss prevention efforts.
