This Woman Didn’t Want to Go On Vacation. Her Husband Insisted It’s ‘The Bare Minimum’ for Her Recovery.

The dating market might look dour, but some husbands out there prove that there are still men willing to go above and beyond for their wives.

This Woman Didn’t Want to Go On Vacation. Her Husband Insisted It’s ‘The Bare Minimum’ for Her Recovery.

Women often lose themselves to the role of motherhood, and not always by choice. Some women simply get so preoccupied with their child’s needs that they forget to care for themselves. Brooklyn Opetaia (@brooklynopetaia) said that her husband put her on vacation, seeing it as necessary for her recovery.

“It’s important who you marry, and who you have kids with,” Opetaia shared on TikTok. After she had finished breastfeeding her son, Opetaia’s husband supposedly told her to book a solo trip to any country she wanted to visit.

“It’s not financially smart to do that. It’s not wise. We’ve got a baby,” she pushed back at first. There are many reasons a woman might say no to a trip even after she’s finished breastfeeding. In Opetaia’s case, she didn’t think it was good for their financial future. For a working-age couple, numbers show that raising a child could cost $17,000 during year one in Australia.

Meanwhile, some women might say no to a trip because they’ve got too much on their plate. Under terribly unfortunate circumstances, their partner might not even do their share of childcare. For instance, this woman from Kansas was busy caring for her children all day but still got cheated on by her husband. Motherhood is a heavy, transitional phase, and a trip might not be a woman’s priority. But Opetaia said that her husband insisted.

“I need you to go and book a trip to anywhere you want in the entire world to go and remember who you are again,” her husband told her. Opetaia said that she breastfed her son for fifteen months. Prior to that, she had been pregnant for nine months. She made the realization that for nearly two years, she didn’t know who she was without a baby attached to her.

New moms deserve a vacation

“I booked myself a two-week solo adventure, and I’ve been soul-searching on the beach in Sicily. And it’s been so good for me,” Opetaia shared. She also stated that she wasn’t anxious to leave her child with her husband because she trusts that he knows what he’s doing. With this trip, she hopes to recharge so that she can come back as the “best mom in the world.”

“I hope that this encourages someone to marry well. It’s worth the wait,” she added. In the comment section, she also said that her husband considers sending her on a trip as “the bare minimum.” When the clip went viral, social media users weighed in. Many commenters praised her husband, with some asking Opetaia where to find men like her husband.

One comment reads, “Who raised this king?” Meanwhile, another social media user said that she raised the volume on the video for her boyfriend to hear.

But Opetaia’s husband also commented on the post, saying, “Guys stop gassing me I can’t handle the clout.” Amidst all the praise, some people commented that they aspire to be in a tax bracket where they could afford to travel after having children. Opetaia herself said that she’s ‘privileged.’

Privilege isn’t limited to having the financial freedom to travel. Having a supportive partner who can keep the home together is also a blessing in itself. Take it from this woman’s husband, who riled up the internet after he sat several seats away from his wife and kids during a flight. It goes to show that waiting for the right person is worth more than settling for someone who couldn’t care less.
