3 Girls Ask Their Boyfriends To Pay for Their Dinners. Grayson Might Be Single Now: ‘Do I Look Sad?’

Having a partner you can lean on is the type of relationship most crave. Knowing they will cover an expense without any questions asked is the icing on top. While this is a no-brainer in some relationships, others test the waters to see whether their significant other will come to their financial rescue regardless of how frivolous it is.

A group of friends did just that during their vacation dinner. All but one passed viewers’ vibe check.

What Happened During This Dinner?

The video was uploaded by TikTok creator Taylor (@taylorrr034), where she and her friends are sitting outside basking in the sun on a restaurant patio.

Behind the camera, she films her friend Jorja (@jorjabyington) as they collectively decided to play a game with their boyfriends.

“So, we all just texted our boyfriends and asked if they could pay for our dinner just to see what they would say and guess what they were gonna say,” Jorja begins. For Jorja, she assumes her boyfriend, Luke, will decline.

“I don’t think he will. He will be like, ‘Bro. Come on. Really?’” she assumes. 

Next up is Savannah (@savannah…831). Unlike Jorja, she believes her boyfriend, Blake, will agree to pick up the tab. Well, somewhat. It’s a coin toss.

“I think he’s gonna say, ‘How much do you need?’ Or ‘Bro, what?’” she says.

Finally is the content creator behind the account, who speculates her man, Grayson, will flat out refuse: “I think he would say, ‘bro’ or ‘bro, no.’” 

Which Boyfriends Paid For Dinner?

In the same rotation, the women open their messages to check the men’s replies. Immediately, Jorja is flabbergasted, pleasantly surprised by Luke’s answer.

“He said, ‘Bro. How much you need? Is $100 good?’” she reads the messages out loud, gushing. “I wasn’t expecting that!”

Then, it’s Savannah’s turn to relish in Blake coming up to bat for her.

“’I can, yeah,’” she recites, bursting into laughter. “I knew he would!”

As proof, she revealed Blake’s Venmo payment of $100.  Last but not least is Taylor. Although her assumption is correct, Grayson’s response isn’t what she expected: “Ugh. Why?”

By the expression of her looking away, those two words shattered her. From how she rubs her eyes and covers her face, the follow-up question “so?” is the deathblow to her heart.

All of a sudden, the content creator’s voice quivers in sadness. “I wasn’t gonna take the money anyway,” she says. “Do I look sad?” Afterward, the trio wraps up the experiment by striking a pose with their ice cream.

‘Grayson needs to go’

Taylor’s group test amassed 3.6 million views, where many extended their sympathies for her while torching her boyfriend in the comments section.

“Please replace Grayson on vacation,” one viewer commented.

“I vote Grayson off,” a second concurred. 

“Grayson needs to go. Lol,” a third echoed.

“I genuinely feel so bad for the last girl, I know this had to hurt,” a fourth stated.

“The last girl should find another man. It’s not that he should say yes, it’s that he’s so rude about it. Poor girl deserves better,” a fifth remarked.

Is This A Red Flag?

It’s widely accepted for men to pick up the tab for their girlfriends in heterosexual relationships, especially on one-on-one dates. On the other hand, it’s not a one-size-fits-all experience. Every couple’s financial situation is different, and how they choose to manage costs varies.

Not to mention, younger people in general are struggling, with a CNBC study reporting 42% of Americans under 30 are barely scraping by. Although Grayson’s response to pay for Taylor’s dinner can be interpreted as impolite and hurtful, his declining it as a whole is subjective. However, First Alliance Credit Union states the common financial alarm bells to be aware of in a relationship:

As of this writing, it seems Taylor and Grayson are still together.
