Kansas Woman Slams a Toyota That Was Stuck on a Pedestrian Lane Being Rude to Walkers and Bikers: ‘They Can’t Even Get Out’
The video only shows part of the encounter, but viewers are weighing in.

A Kansas woman is calling attention to a tense encounter between a driver and people using a pedestrian and bike lane after a vehicle ended up stuck on the path. The incident, shared on TikTok by Ashleigh Toinette, has sparked debate over whether the driver’s actions escalated what may have started as a mistake.
Toinette (@ashleigh.toinette) shared a video showing a Toyota positioned on a lane intended for pedestrians and cyclists. She says the people inside the vehicle appeared unaware there were driving somewhere not meant for regular vehicle traffic.
“So these people don’t realize that they are on a walking and bike lane,” Toinette says in the video. She claims the driver and occupants became hostile toward people using the path. Toinette also points out a pole is located in the middle of the lane. She said it appeared to make it difficult for the vehicle to continue or turn around. “They can’t even get out.”
The video shows the Toyota attempting to maneuver away from the pedestrian lane by moving toward regular traffic. Toinette reacts as the driver appears to try to exit the area. “They’re gonna hit somebody else’s car,” she says. “Wow, really intelligent. Really intelligent.”
Mistake or not, some commenters sided with Toinette
The video prompted discussion among viewers, with some commenters arguing that the driver’s behavior toward pedestrians was the central issue. One commenter wrote, “i feel like people are also missing that cars can and are used as a weapon against pedestrians, so the only person antagonizing anyone is the driver who looks to be tailing you wayyy too close never mind that it was already a traffic violation being in a pedestrian walkway ?.”
Other viewers focused on the possibility that the driver may have entered the lane accidentally. The video does not show the moments before the vehicle entered the path. It is unclear whether the driver intentionally used the lane or made a mistake.
Shared-use paths and pedestrian lanes are generally designed to separate people walking or biking from motor vehicle traffic. Transportation agencies, including the National Association of City Transportation Officials, recommend designs that reduce conflicts between vehicles and people using bike and pedestrian infrastructure.
Toinette does not identify the location of the encounter in the video, and she does not provide details about how the vehicle entered the pedestrian lane. The footage also does not show whether the driver struck another vehicle, whether anyone was injured, or whether law enforcement became involved. Comments represent Toinette’s and the viewer’s opinion and do not establish facts beyond what appears in the video.
