California Man Exposes Husband on TikTok Over His Plate Obsession: ‘When There’s a Will, There’s a Way.’

When overconsumption becomes a topic of discussion, some people would think about Labubu dolls or maybe even Stanley cups. For content creator Frankly Robbie (@franklyrobbie) from California, his husband’s plate obsession comes to mind. He exposed the man and his absurd plate collection on TikTok.
“So it’s great and all that you’ve saved money by finding this store to get plates that we don’t need,” Robbie gestured on the counter. They were not just white plates—they were scalloped plates with Peter Rabbit printed at the center.
“We absolutely need,” Robbie’s husband corrected him. Arguably, the plates were unique, and they might receive compliments for whenever they host guests.
“I know that it makes you happy. But the real question here is—” Robbie doesn’t finish the question. Instead, he started walking to a hallway in their home. His husband tried to stop him, as if he knew exactly what Robbie was talking about. It looks like there’s more to just a stack of plates on the counter.
“He buys, and buys, and buys. And there’s literally no room,” Robbie said. He opened one of their cupboards, and it revealed an overflowing stack of dinnerware items.
An unhealthy love for tableware
There were gingerbread-themed plates, with matching saucers and mugs. There was even a gingerbread train figurine to top the set off. But that’s just one themed dinnerware set. From Robbie’s clip, it’s evident that his husband has a lot of themed dinnerwear stored away.
There were star-shaped bowls and stacks of other plates that most likely were not plain—it was a lot.
“I bet you, he doesn’t even know what we have in here,” Robbie accused his husband. He said they’d probably never even used half of the plates in the cupboard.
“I know exactly what’s in every crevice of this carny closet,” his husband defended.
With how unique the pieces are, it didn’t seem unlikely for the man to forget. But the cabinet was struggling to accommodate more plates, and it would be easy to see why some items there would probably get one use per year. Much of the tableware seemed seasonal. While perfect for occasions, they’d be too special to whip out on a regular Sunday morning.
“This is the Easter section, so the plates are going to go back in here on top of the cabbage,” his husband continued. He gestured at the top of cabbage-shaped plates—another unique piece. But even though there were many plates in the closet, the man definitely seemed to know where each plate was supposed to go.
He’s even said that he has TikTok video evidence of them using the plates that Robbie said they never had. Regardless, Robbie reasoned with him that even though he still had space, it was still too narrow. It’s one last plea for his husband to stop buying too many plates.
“Oh, don’t you fret. When there’s a will, there’s a way. I’m not worried,” the man shot back. Evidently, Robbie can’t reason with his plate-loving husband—not even when the cupboard looks like it’s about to burst from all the tableware in it.
Even TikTok is on his husband’s side of the plate debacle
“And what’s this? When did you get this? An artichoke for what? Cookies we don’t even eat?” Oddly enough, they have an artichoke-shaped cookie jar. But Robbie’s had it with him.
“It’s for decor, it’s for tablescaping. Quit judging me, okay?” His husband told him. When Robbie raised that he couldn’t even buy underwear or Starbucks tumblers, his partner shut him down.
“Flamingo off,” the man said. Robbie simply couldn’t win, and it seems that the social media users are also siding with his husband.
One commenter wrote, “There are people buying cyber trucks. Let him live!!!!”
Another said, “Just know we are on his side.”
Robbie may have lost this round, but at least his husband is happy.
