TikTok Users Share Hilarious Response to Mom Stealing Baby Yoda’s Clothes

Grogu waving on the Mandalorian

For the last several years many parents have dressed their babies in clothing featuring The Mandalorian‘s Grogu – or Baby Yoda, if you prefer – but one mum on TikTok had gone viral for actually stealing the clothing from a life-size Grogu figure for her baby to wear.

In the clip, which has scored over 4.2 million likes on the platform, a caption reads, “When all the baby clothes are in the laundry.” The video shows a young baby resting against a cushion, dressed in the snuggly green outfit usually adorning the pointy-eared unlikely sidekick of Din Djarin in the Star Wars universe. The real icing on the cake, though, is when the camera then turns to show a completely naked Grogu figure standing with a less than impressed look on his face.

The internet certainly had questions about the caption. Were all the baby clothes really in the wash? Probably not, but it is the perfect excuse to fully commit to dressing your child as Baby Yoda and sharing it with a waiting TikTok audience. It’s fun, charming, and completely adorable. There is another side to the story, though, and it has completely taken over the comments section. What has poor Grogu done to deserve losing his robes and being left all exposed?

The sight of the galaxy’s beloved Force-wielding youngling being stripped of his garments with nothing but betrayal in his big, dark eyes is what many have felt the need to comment on. And comment in their thousands, they have. “I like how Grogu is just like ‘bro,” one user commented. Another added, “Why does he look so offended?” A third said, “Someone could have at least thrown a blanket over the poor little guy. He’s a baby too!”

Although the expression on the Grogu figure’s face is just the character’s natural one, in this particular situation, it is impossible to see anything other than bemusement and slight indignity caught in that moment. While it may be hilarious for us to see Grogu being treated like a put-upon roommate who has come out of the shower to find his clothes have been stolen, amused, he is not.

Grogu Has Found His Place in Pop Culture

This summer’s release of The Mandalorian and Grogu was not the monster hit that everyone hoped for, but Grogu is well and truly a part of pop culture among as many non-Star Wars fans as those who have followed his adventures since 2019.  He is exactly the sort of figure people are primed to leap to the defence of, even over nothing more than a temporary wardrobe malfunction.

Dressing babies in Grogu-related gear is an almost guaranteed way of going viral, especially following the release of this year’s Star Wars movie. While this usually means licensed hoodies, onesies, fake ears, or a simple T-shirt, this video’s expanding of the idea to actually steal the clothes from Grogu himself is one that has captured the imagination more than most.

Of course, there is no harm done in the long run. The baby looks delightfully snuggly, the post gained a virial status, and the real clothes will be out of the laundry in no time. In the meantime, the little alien who asked for no part in these shenanigans will just have to patiently wait to have his dignity restored, and perhaps he will cheer up a bit once he is fully clothed again. The internet will continue to send him their support until then.
