Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland’s Weird Collaborations Have Continued With “Daddy” Taunts in The Odyssey

Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland have now made three films together, and judging by a new interview, they share a quirky chemistry on-set that has become very apparent in the pair’s promotional tour for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

In a new interview with Empire Magazine, Pattinson revealed that one of the best parts of working on Nolan’s historical epic was to be able to embrace his villainous character and taunt Holland during filming. In a complete counterbalance moment, Holland revealed that for him, Pattinson was something of a safety blanket in such a sprawling and star-packed movie. Somehow, this odd-couple pairing is a dynamic that clearly made filming a fun experience for both of them.

In The Odyssey, Pattinson plays Antinous, the most odious of the suitors circling Penelope (Anne Hathaway) back in Ithaca while Odysseus (Matt Damon) is lost at sea, scheming to take the missing king’s place. Holland plays Telemachus, Odysseus and Penelope’s son, who is understandably not too pleased to have a smarmy and smirking interloper attempting to take his father’s place in his home. Of course, this dynamic between the two characters played perfectly into Pattinson’s love of telling Holland how much he wanted to be “daddy” to him.

“I mean, he’s just the worst stepfather you could possibly have,” Pattinson said of his despicable character. He went on to add that working with Holland always seems to get a little weird. “I always end up doing these slithery things with Tom and I don’t know why. This was just a fun part to play: ‘I just want to be your daddy. I want to be your daddy. That’s all I want!’”

Holland, for his part, was just happy to have a familiar face on-set with him, as despite working on some of the biggest superhero movies of all time, Holland still found the scale of the production daunting.

“Having a familiar face and someone that I could share the screen with was a real safety blanket for me,” Holland said. “I’m always eager to share scenes with Rob, because he just brings the best out of everyone.I admire his ability to take big swings and make them feel like the perfect decision for that character.”

Tom Holland Will Be Box Office Gold This Summer

While Pattinson and Holland have clearly found themselves a very specific pattern to their working relationship, The Odyssey has such a wide-ranging cast that there was always going to be others that Holland has worked with. It turns out that one of those people was none other than Jon Bernthal, best known for his roles in The Walking Dead and as Frank Castle/Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By some strange coincidence, The Odyssey will not be the only movie the pair appear in together, as Holland’s latest turn as Marvel’s iconic webslinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day gives them the chance to star in not one but two of the biggest movies of 2026 within a month of each other.

All of this bodes well for Holland, who continues to be a popular and versatile actor, as well as now being one half of Hollywood’s current golden couple thanks to his recent secretive marriage to his Marvel co-star Zendaya. The Odyssey will charge into cinemas on July 17, 2026, just two weeks before Holland swings out as Spider-Man in Brand New Day to completely dominate the summer. Robert Pattinson may be playing daddy to Holland, but it is the younger actor who is going to be daddy of the box office.
