‘She Better Come Back’: New Orleans Woman Checks In at Airport. Then a Stranger Leaves Her Baby With Her

A TikTok captioned “she better come back” has viewers laughing and asking the same question. A New Orleans woman suddenly found herself in charge of a baby she doesn’t know at an airport.
The video, shared by Rene B (@ ___rene._), has 1.5 million views. It showed Rene eating what appears to be a box of Chinese food while sitting in an airport. She then panned the camera to a baby sitting in a stroller.
Things got more dramatic when the baby started fussing and crying. The woman repeatedly said, “Oh my God,” as she tried to process the unexpected babysitting assignment.
Whose Baby Was It?
According to a comment from the creator, the baby’s mother told her she would be right back and left the stroller in her care. The creator accepted the impromptu babysitting duty, only to find herself documenting the experience as the baby began to fuss.
“You not the stranger you the village,” joked one user.
Some viewers weren’t convinced. Several commenters theorized that the child was actually her baby and that the story was just a joke.
“That’s her baby,” @Jasmyné suggested.
The creator pushed back on that idea, replying that she does not have any children and actually just owns a dog.
“WHO ? I don’t own one of these ! I have a dog,” she stated with laughing emojis.
Did the mother actually return?
Naturally, viewers had one major concern. Viewers questioned if the mother eventually returned.
According to the creator, the answer is yes. She later replied in the comments that the woman came back not long afterward after going to check on a flight.
“Yes she was gone for like 1 minute only…She went to Check the flight,” she informed.
Based on the creator’s follow-up comment, the situation appears to have been brief. While many viewers were initially worried, the mother was reportedly gone only a short time before returning to the stroller.
Others joked that the woman looked like she instantly regretted accepting the responsibility.
Why Are People Laughing At Her Reaction?
Much of the video’s popularity comes from the creator’s reaction. Rather than sounding calm or confident, she seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the crying baby.
Her repeated “Oh my God” quickly became the star of the video. Many commenters said her panic felt relatable, especially for people who are not used to caring for young children.
Many suggested that he simply wanted a share of her food.
“The baby was trying to reach out and grab some of that food. Dam near falling out the stroller,” a user jokingly added.
That didn’t stop commenters from imagining worst-case scenarios. Some viewers advised against taking responsibility for children you don’t know.
“Yeah never do this again it’s nice to be nice but not alllll the time, you don’t know what people are doing,” warned a concerned user.
What Should You Do If A Parent Really Goes Missing At An Airport?
Travel experts generally advise against taking responsibility for an unfamiliar child on your own. If a child appears abandoned or a parent fails to return, the safest step is to immediately notify airport staff, airline employees, security personnel, or law enforcement officers working in the terminal.
Airports have procedures for handling unattended children and can quickly make announcements, review security footage, and contact the appropriate authorities if needed. Many airlines also operate special unaccompanied minor programs designed to keep children safe while traveling.

Have Parents Gone Missing At An Airport Before?
The concern in the comments may seem dramatic, but there have been real cases of children being left alone at airports.
In December 2023, a TSA employee at Tri-State Airport in West Virginia found a 1-year-old child alone in a stroller near the airport entrance. Authorities later located the child’s mother, who was charged with child neglect creating a risk of injury.
There have also been international cases. In 2025, police at Barcelona Airport in Spain intervened after a couple allegedly left their 10-year-old son behind when he could not board a flight because of documentation issues. Airport staff alerted authorities, and the parents were later tracked down.
Even when a parent has no intention of abandoning a child, airports can be chaotic places. In another 2025 incident at Newark Liberty International Airport, a 2-year-old wandered away from a parent during a flight rebooking issue and ended up on a baggage conveyor belt before being safely rescued.
Thankfully, the TikTok story had a much happier ending. The baby’s mother returned shortly after leaving to check on a flight, putting viewers’ biggest concern to rest.
