Hawaii Woman Attends Concert With Boyfriend, Notices a ‘Naive’ Woman Allowing Her Daughter to Ride on Shoulders of Grown Men: ‘RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME’

Be aware of drunk old uncles at the concert

Concert-going experiences can sometimes be chaotic. While typically one wouldn’t expect anything too startling to happen, occasionally things can go wrong, and a few obstacles might prevent you from having the best experience.

On April 12, 2023, TikTok user @ariel_hendrixx uploaded a video where she talked about attending a concert and encountering a mother in her 20s with her daughter, who was around 10 years old. She said that this mother looked very “naïve” and helpless as grown men in their forties and fifties circled around her and her daughter. From an outsider’s perspective, it felt creepy and uncomfortable, including to Ariel and her husband, who was also with her at the concert.

Ariel recounts a creepy concert-going experience

As mentioned earlier, while Ariel and her husband were at the concert, they saw a woman attending with her daughter. She explains in her video that the woman was in her early 20s, and her daughter was about ten. She also notes that the woman seemed naive and vulnerable.

Ariel then shares that at one point, a group of men in their 40s and 50s started circling around the woman and her daughter, all of whom were drinking. Seeing this, Ariel felt uncomfortable. Then, at one point, one of the men put the woman’s daughter on his shoulder, which made Ariel more uneasy because she believed the woman didn’t know these men and might be bothered by them, but was unable to say anything. Later, another man lifted the woman’s daughter over his shoulders, which increased Ariel’s discomfort. These men then started talking too close to the woman and her daughter’s ears, which gave Ariel the ick. After talking with her husband, they decided to intervene. Ariel took the place of one of the men who had left to get a drink, perhaps, and quietly asked the woman if she knew the men surrounding her. When she said no, Ariel offered to help and said she was willing to do whatever needed to be done. When the man who had gone away came back, Ariel told them that they were not needed there, leading to a verbal argument. When things escalated slightly, Ariel’s husband stepped in, and then things cooled down after a bit of a struggle.

@ariel_hendrixx’s TikTok video, where she shares a concert experience, has gained significant attention on the platform. Uploaded in two parts, the videos received strong reactions. Most people appreciated Ariel for helping the woman and her daughter, while others pointed out how hard it is for women to speak up in situations like those Ariel described.

User @olivebranchx2 wrote, “YOU WERE IN THE RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME.” User @vic_toria08 said, “For a single mom with 3 kids- thank you for keeping an eye out. But on his shoulders.” User @lizr866 commented, “That’s the problem, most women don’t want to cause problems, no no no, shout out as loud as you can telling them to leave you alone.” User @__cfilardi__ stated, “To all the people bashing the mom she’s a small woman and she was probably imagining the worst case scenario if she caused a scene where the men.”

Injuries at concerts are very common

An article published on Graham Law states that Billboard.com reports that about 32 million Americans attend at least one music festival annually. While major festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and SXSW attract the largest audiences and performers, numerous smaller, local events take place nationwide, such as the Lost Lands festival at Legend Valley in Ohio.

These events draw thousands of attendees. Bringing such large crowds together can result in enjoyable times, but it can also pose potential hazards. Factors like large crowds, substance use, heightened excitement, influences from music and performers, weather exposure, and risky activities like mosh pits and crowd diving can lead to dangerous situations.

Participation in these large-scale events carries a heightened risk of injury and, in severe cases, death. Over a decade, nearly 70,000 individuals worldwide suffered serious injuries at around 300 outdoor music concerts, with 232 fatalities reported, according to one study.
