The ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Finale Packs a Fisk Sized Punch (and 3D Printed Masks)

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 was all leading to one place: A Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk showdown for the ages. And the finale delivered giving fans comic wishes, rebellions, and more.
Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) has been putting New York City on edge as Mayor. Trying to maintain his Kingpin persona while leading the city led Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to one end. He had to come out of hiding to defend Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) against Fisk’s Anti-Viligante Task Force and a new act that tries “criminals” who help vigilantes.
Matt back in the courtroom was great but it all snowballed into one of the most thrilling Daredevil finales yet. While Karen is on trial, Matt calls Fisk to the stand and when the Mayor threatens to reveals Matt’s secret identity, Matt takes matters into his own hands. He forces Fisk to admit to things on the North Star and when he boils down to Daredevil needed to answer the truth behind it all, he reveals his identity and frees Karen Page from the court system.
But as is his way, Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) throws a wrench into Matt’s happy ending. A shot is fired, hitting Buck (Arty Froushan) and the court house goes into lockdown with Fisk’s AVTF barricading the doors.
Here’s Wilson

What really worked about the finale came from Fisk leaning into the comic monster fans know and love. Big white suit and all, Fisk finally becomes the Kingpin they all labeled to be. “Boo,” Fisk says as Daredevil fans and supporters get into the courthouse and within one swing, he murders a man in cold blood.
While I loved the 3D printed helmet energy of Matt’s supporters, it is hilarious how they stood no chance again Fisk. He took out so many men and women running down the hallway at him, left them dead and bleeding, and it took Matt’s compassion to finally put an end to Fisk’s rage.
A perfect set up for Matt Murdock

The end of the season left Fisk and Matt separated. Matt was having dinner with Karen when the police came to force him to answer for Daredevil’s crimes. He ends up in prison with Fisk’s ATVF officers and that’s where we leave him while Wilson is a free man on a beach, away from the city he once ruled. But putting Matt in prison does leave a lot of questions for the future of Daredevil.
Are we going to have an entire season with Matt behind bars? Is it going to be an easy answer at the start of season 3? Or are the Defenders going to have to roll in and save their fellow vigilante, even though he is the lawyer of the team? Whatever ends up happening, the finale does set up one fact: Daredevil has supporters and New York on his side.
Again, I’m kind of obsessed with the 3D printed helmets that rolled up to fight Fisk but maybe they’ll help Matt find his freedom once again. For now, we have a great finale to unpack.
