The one fashion choice that nearly gave Emily Blunt the ick about her A-list husband
Saved by the 60s.

Emily Blunt was not prepared for John Krasinski’s 2026 Golden Globe Awards red carpet turtleneck fit. The actor’s choice to wear a dark turtleneck under a black blazer at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards almost gave her the “ick,” she admitted. Blunt, who plays Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada 2, said she usually has a “full organ rejection” to turtlenecks, but Krasinski’s sleek, Michael Caine-inspired look changed her mind.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 28, Blunt didn’t hold back when she described her initial reaction to Krasinski’s outfit pitch. According to Us Weekly, she said, “When John pitched me this outfit and he was like, ‘And it’s a turtleneck,’ I had to compose my face into, like, impassive, ‘Oh, that sounds great,’ you know?” she said.
The Oscar nominee was relieved when she saw the final look, calling it a “’60s vibe” that actually worked. Still, she warned any turtleneck wearers in the audience that most men in the style still give her the ick.
If turtlenecks are Blunt’s fashion dealbreaker, dad leather jackets are a close second
Blunt made it clear that while she loves a classic James Dean leather jacket, the shiny, tight, cropped bomber jackets some men wear are a hard no. “A little tight. And cropped,” she said, offering a warning to anyone considering the look.
Blunt and Krasinski have been married since July 2010 and have two daughters, Hazel, 12, and Violet, 9. The couple has worked together on the A Quiet Place franchise, with Krasinski directing and writing the films while Blunt stars alongside him. During her Tonight Show appearance, Blunt teased the upcoming A Quiet Place Part III, set for release in July 2027.
She joked about Krasinski’s intense writing process, which involves covering their home in Post-it notes. “He’s one of these weird, sort of Beautiful Mind people,” she said. “He goes up, he has Post-its everywhere, and he’s like that for months, organizing it. [It’s] to the point where I’m like, ‘Please write this movie. Stop Post-it-ing our house.’”
Blunt also shared her hopes for the third installment, revealing she’s praying for “slightly less action” after two movies of nonstop running. “I had one bad knee before I started the franchise,” she explained. “And now I have two bad knees.” She even joked about a recent on-set mishap where Krasinski asked her to do a fake stumble, and she ended up injuring her other knee. “So I’m hoping to sort of sit quietly in A Quiet Place III,” she said.
Blunt is reprising her role as Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada 2
The long-awaited sequel reunites her with co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Stanley Tucci. Blunt recently revealed that Hazel and Violet are huge fans of the original. According to People, her kids watched the 2006 movie for the first time about a year ago because their friends were obsessed with it. She said, “And then my kids again watched it last night because they know they’re going to see this one soon, and they just love it.”
Blunt and Krasinski are famously private about their family life, but they’ve given fans a few rare glimpses into their world. Last September, the family attended the 2025 US Open men’s singles championship match between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
Hazel and Violet coordinated their outfits, with Violet in a light pink dress and blue cardigan and Hazel in a white and pink jersey with light wash jeans. Krasinski wore a black polo shirt and gray trousers, while Blunt opted for a white button-down dress. The girls even waved at the camera when their parents were shown on the big screen, a moment that quickly went viral.
Blunt has always prioritized her role as a mother, even when balancing a busy acting career. In July 2023, she announced she was taking a year off to spend more time with her daughters. Since returning to work, she’s made sure to be home for the kids’ bedtime, calling it an “essential anchor.”
