A TikTok video showing a tense exchange between a customer and a Grubhub driver is getting attention online.

In the clip, which has over 620,300 views so far, creator @janaeleuniece films her unusual interaction with the driver during delivery.

GrubHub Driver Refuses To Hand Over Food Without Code

In the video, the customer repeatedly asks the driver to hand over the food first. Instead, he insists she give him the delivery code before he gets out of the car.

“But why is it that you won’t get it… just get it out of the car?” she asks.

“Are you gonna give me the code?” the driver responds, laughing.

The back-and-forth continues, with the customer questioning why he won’t simply hand her the order.

“Why can’t you get the food out the car first though?” she asks.

“It’s right there,” he says, pointing to the back seat. “Just give me the code and I’ll leave.”

The customer pushes back, explaining her concern.

“’Cause I could give you the code and then you get in the car, and you drive off?” she asks.

“I’m not gonna drive off, I promise,” he responds.

Still, he refuses to pull the food out of the car. “Give me the code or I’m leaving,” he says at one point.

“You go right on ahead, sir,” she replies. “And you have a [expletive] night.”

The video ends without the exchange being resolved.

“Mind u… it took him two hours 2 deliver the food,” she added in the caption.

Commenters Suspect Foul Play

In the comments section, viewers suspected something wasn’t right with the driver.

“I’m not a hater, but he sound like he full of your food,” one person wrote.

“He literally said ‘just give me the code so I can leave,’” another added.

“The code MEANS: I received my food!! No food, no code,” a third said.

According to Grubhub, it’s true that the customer must provide the code first, wait for it to be verified, and then receive the food. However, the clear implication is that the food should already be in the driver’s hands during this interaction.

“What did you order?? ’Cause it was clearly good AF lol had him giggling,” another joked.

Not The First Time A Driver Was Accused Of Eating The Food

There have been previous instances of customers noticing missing items from their orders or drivers being caught in other ways.

For example, in California in 2023, a restaurant reportedly caught a Grubhub driver opening a bag and eating from it right outside the premises. The incident appeared to confirm what some customers had been complaining about for a long time.

On Reddit, one customer said their order was on the way when the driver suddenly stopped at an intersection. Shortly after, they received a “rate your delivery” notification, even though the food never arrived.

Another Reddit user said their driver arrived at the address but refused to climb the stairs, instead allegedly leaving with the food.
