In the clip, which has garnered over 1.8 million views, TikTok creator Kayla (@macncheese_yall) sits in her car, sandwich in hand.

“Pull my sandwich out of the bag, I see this,” she says, filming what appears to be a rusty nail fully embedded in the sandwich. She then slowly pulls it out, revealing that’s exactly what it is. “Are you joking?” she asks in disbelief.

She added in the caption, “Ain’t no [expletive] way,” also tagging the official Starbucks TikTok account.

Commenters Find It Disturbing and Funny

“They sold you the damn display,” one person wrote.

“That’s to keep the bacon in place,” another joked.

Others took a more serious tone.

“My question is… these are MICROWAVED… how did it not throw sparks?” one asked.

“Immediately get a lawyer and do not respond to anyone from the brand without representation,” another advised.

Not the First Time People Have Found Strange Things in Starbucks Orders

While bizarre add-ins in Starbucks food and drink are rare, it does happen from time to time.

A recent example happened in 2022, when a man filed a personal injury lawsuit against Starbucks after alleging he was served cleaning solution and ingested it, which made him ill. The case has since been settled.

Less formal cases have also surfaced over time.

In 2025, a user posted a photo on Facebook of what appeared to be a bug inside a Starbucks sandwich. In 2015, a woman alleged she found a small lizard in her drink. A Reddit user has also reported finding mold in Starbucks cake pops.

What Should You Do If You Find a Foreign Object in Your Food?

While many people’s first reaction in situations like this is to urge others to sue, in most states, the person filing the lawsuit needs to prove that the incident caused actual harm, which can be difficult in court.

That said, it doesn’t mean a restaurant shouldn’t face consequences if something like this happens. It’s generally a good idea to report the issue to your local health department or another agency that can investigate.

It’s advised that people in this situation preserve as much evidence as they can, as it can help strengthen a complaint or lawsuit if they choose to pursue that path.

In an email to the Mary Sue, a Starbucks spokesperson shared the following statement:

“The health and safety of our customers is always our top priority. At Starbucks, we have high quality standards for all our food and beverage products. We are in contact with the customer to better understand what happened and conducting a thorough investigation.”
