A Qantas passenger from LA walked to the bathroom at 30,000 feet. Then woke up on the floor with no memory: ‘So scary!!! ’

Unfavorable experiences during flights are more common than people like to admit. Typical issues include turbulence, long lines at the luggage drop, an annoying co-passenger, or service problems. However, some experiences are very unique and specific to certain individuals. For TikTok user @bellaaseymour, her situation was quite rare.

In a video uploaded to TikTok on March 8, 2026, Bella Seymour shared her story about the time she completely passed out on a Qantas Airways flight from L.A. to Brisbane. She explained that her partner lives with her in Brisbane, and they were returning from L.A. after visiting his parents there. She then described her experience of passing out during the long flight, saying she had been sleeping for six hours before feeling a strong urge to pee. When she went to the bathroom, it was busy, so she turned around to return to her seat. Suddenly, her vision blurred, and she collapsed onto the ground. In the video, she vaguely recalls that a crew member asked if she was okay, and the next thing she remembers is being on the ground.

TikTok user @bellaaseymour had an unfavorable experience on a Qantas Airways flight

As mentioned earlier, TikTok user @bellaaseymour fainted in front of the bathroom while flying with Qantas Airways from LA to Brisbane after discovering it was occupied. Bella states in the video that she fell into the arms of a cabin crew member, who then laid her on the floor. When she regained consciousness, she found herself lying flat and was confused about what had happened. She recalls feeling very scared and seeing blurry, both of which caused her to panic. However, she notes that the airline crew was very supportive, trying to calm her and checking on her repeatedly to make sure she was okay.

Bella also mentions in the video that she was provided with oxygen, which made her feel better. Then, talking about the people helping her, Bella mentions that they were a treat, joking with her continuously and making her feel at ease, while Bella was very apologetic about her situation, as she believed she was being an inconvenience to the crew. Bella then reveals that the crew brought her fiancé, got her to her seat, gave her a can of Coke, and checked on her every hour. She then says she went back to sleep after some time, but shortly after waking up, the crew came in and gave her her breakfast early, stating that she should eat early, given her condition and the possibility of going through the same ordeal again. Bella also mentions that the crew gave her snacks and brought her Qantas pajamas to make her “feel better.” They also asked if she needed any help getting her bags on the “other end.” Speaking about everything the crew did to ensure she was okay and avoid further problems, Bella said, “I felt so, so lucky to be cared for by them in the moment, and I am just so incredibly grateful that they were there.”

Why do people faint on flights?

As it turns out, it is quite common for people to faint on flights, especially on long-haul ones. A piece published by Travelers United on October 4, 2024, highlights that the medical term describing episodes of fainting among passengers on a flight is called syncope and is one of the most common in-flight medical emergencies.

The source also emphasizes that fainting during flights is usually caused by fluctuations in blood flow, with two of the most common reasons being people suddenly getting up from their seats after sitting for a long time or due to oxygen deficiency in the cabin.
