Texas woman goes on 3 dates with man. Then she gets a call from another woman: ‘You know about the arrest right?’

Three dates in, he was already talking marriage, stepkids, and forever. A little intense, but not exactly a crime… or so she thought. Nearly a year after walking away, one phone call turned this Texas woman’s “he came on too strong” story into something far darker.
Apparently, what she interpreted as a red flag was actually the signs of a criminal showing itself. One full-blown revelation later and it has completely reframed everything she thought she knew about the man who once pitched her a ready-made family.
‘Dating on the apps in Texas!’
Dating apps have already caught enough flak in 2026, but this new story from almost three years ago is astounding just the same. News anchor Kristin Carol (@kristincfox34) is finally sharing a story she was petrified to tell before.
Her caption gives a short hint: “dating on the apps in Texas!” It’s a doozy; seven and a half minutes of red flags piling up until the big drop, jaw-droppingly enough to already have over 11,000 views. Kristin is finally sharing this “crazy” dating story because she said she didn’t want to tell anyone right after it happened, since the man knows where she lives.
They met on the Facebook dating site. Kristin says they immediately “hit it off” from their first date and started seeing each other exclusively. She says that from the beginning, he had a lot of “intent,” which is something she wants from her future partners.
A downside was that he lived 100 miles away. On top of that, he was a widower with three little girls. However, she thought that he was “terrific” because he always took care of them. The first “red flag” she noticed was that he was always talking about marriage. On the third date, he was already talking about getting married again.
She says, “I guess that should be a red flag but naive me was like, he really likes me.”
What was He Saying?
Along with all the talk of marriage, Kristin shares that he was using odd language to describe it.
“Instead of saying when you’re my wife…the language he used was ‘when you’re the girls’ stepmom,” she says.
This was the tipping point for Kristin. She came to the conclusion that he wasn’t really interested in getting married, but rather in finding a caretaker for his daughters. This led Kristin to break it off, and, according to her, “he handled it pretty well.” At this point, Kristin thinks it’s all in the past. Until a year and a half passes and she gets a weird phone call.
A woman is on the other side, asking Kristin if she is still dating the man. She denies it, saying that it has been a while since they last spoke. The woman is relieved because she has been dating him for “a couple years,” and she would often hear the man talk about Kristin, so she got curious, found her phone number in his phone and called her to check if he was still being faithful.
Kristin clears the air, and one and a half hours into their three-hour phone call, the woman asks, “You know about the arrest, right?” Shocked, Kristin says she doesn’t know anything. The woman then reveals it was for murder.
What Did He Do?
Playing close attention to the details in the beginning of the story, viewers would remember that Kristin described him as a widower. In fact, she says that while a bit into dating, she had asked him how his wife died. He told her that she had shot herself. Spoiler alert: she didn’t.
He was the one who allegedly shot and killed her. Because he’s very wealthy, he wasn’t detained for long because he immediately posted the $100,000 bail. Apparently, his wife had filed for divorce and wanted custody of the girls. When she went over to his place to do a visitation exchange, an argument broke out. “He keeps weapons in the house because he’s very Texas, obviously,” Kristin says. One thing led to another, and the wife passed away.
Kristin shares that when dating, she noticed he had two bullet-wound scars on his thigh. She asked him how he got it and his reply was just, “I’ll have to tell you that story someday.”
According to the police’s theory, he shot his wife dead and then shot himself to make it look like she did it and killed herself afterwards.
“He treated me better than anyone else,” Kristin says. “And he killed his wife. Maybe. Probably did.”
At the end of the story, Kristin concludes that he was on Facebook dating to see if he could “lock down” a wife before he probably went to prison for his alleged crime. Kristin’s last line is, “can’t make this crap up, y’all.”
Viewers are Horrified

The clip even garners locals, with one viewer saying, “I know of guy you’re talking about.” Kristin replies, “He was a big oil exec so I’m sure you do!”
