A Cat’s Mad Dash on an Airplane Has Many Defending the Feline’s Right to Stretch Its Legs

I may be in the minority here, but a flight would be made exponentially better by an escaped cat. And before you say “but what if someone is allergic” etc. I KNOW. But I speak my truth, and my truth is that I hate flying and would love to have my cat with me when I do. Turns out, a different kitty also hates flying and attempted to make a mad dash for freedom on a recent Lufthansa flight.
The escapade was documented on X, with the user posting about how the cabin banded together to catch the cat without freaking it out. The attached photo of a large, fluffy orange cat is perfect icing on the cake, because of course it would be an orange cat.
The cat’s face screams “unhand me.” It also screams “guilty, and am already planning another escape.” But also, aren’t all cats always planning something? Huge props for it taking its arrest gallantly, though apparently rather reluctantly. Not many would.
Sometimes the internet does exactly what it was intended to do
The comments under the post don’t disappoint, either. Several users referenced the viral Australian video where a man was arrested outside a Chinese restaurant, and as he’s detained he says, “What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?”
Others shared cropped photos of the capture from the original posts alongside comments like “THIS IS DEMOCRACY MANIFEST,” which is from the same viral video. Another shared the story of a similar feline escape happening to them in 2022 aboard a flight, though this particular Houdini was rescued rather quickly by a flight attendant, so he didn’t get quite the media splash this orange boy. However, these occurrences beg the question: “can’t a big cat stretch their legs during a long flight once in a while?”
Honestly, though, it’s always adorable to see a whole group of strangers band together in order to do something. With so much turmoil in the world right now we really need news like this to make things feel at least a little bit better. And huge props to everybody focusing on the cat’s safety. It’s something that many don’t take into account when trying to rescue animals. Cats especially are anxious and scared–for the most part, though it seems like this particular feline wasn’t!
Keep the memes coming. We need a good laugh right now.
