The president’s ‘scam’ claims on voting by mail are utterly destroyed by one glaring fact about his recent ballot
A hypocrisy like no other.

President Donald Trump recently slammed voting by mail as “cheating” and a “scam” during a public address, but just days earlier, he cast his own ballot using that very method, per The Guardian. Speaking at an event in Memphis, Tennessee, on Monday, Trump didn’t mince words.
He declared, “Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all.” These remarks came during a roundtable discussion focused on his administration’s crime task force, where he reiterated his long-standing, baseless claims about widespread fraud associated with the practice.
However, official records from the Palm Beach county supervisor of elections website tell a different story about the president’s own actions. They show Trump voted by mail in the special election for Florida’s House district 87. This district, which includes his Mar-a-Lago golf club, is currently seeing Republican candidate Jon Maples, whom Trump has endorsed, face off against Democrat Emily Gregory.
Trump has consistently criticized the mail-in voting process
What’s even more interesting is that Trump chose to mail his ballot despite having been in Palm Beach recently, where early in-person voting was readily available until Sunday evening. Trump has been relentless in his attacks on mail-in voting in recent months. He has renewed his unsupported claims that the process is highly susceptible to fraud, pushing Senate Republicans to pass a restrictive voting bill.
This proposed legislation would require proof of US citizenship for new voters and implement other measures. President Trump has actively campaigned against voting by mail, labeling it a “scam” and vowing to dismantle the system. During his State of the Union address last month, he emphatically demanded “no more crooked mail-in ballots.”
Many election experts have voiced concerns that the president’s continuous criticism of mail-in voting over the years actively undermines overall public trust in the democratic process. They point out that local officials have implemented extensive checks and balances designed to mitigate most forms of potential fraud, making the system far more secure than the president often claims.
The White House, for its part, has downplayed the significance of Trump’s mail-in vote. White House spokesperson Olivia Wales called his decision “a non-story.” Wales explained, “As President Trump has said, the SAVE America Act has commonsense exceptions for Americans to use mail-in ballots for illness, disability, military, or travel – but universal mail-in voting should not be allowed because it’s highly susceptible to fraud.”
She also clarified, “As everyone knows, the President is a resident of Palm Beach and participates in Florida elections, but he obviously primarily lives at the White House in Washington, D.C.” This isn’t the first time Trump has opted for a mail-in ballot despite his public denunciations.
Back in the 2020 presidential primary, he also mailed his ballot. That instance came after he had already declared, without presenting any evidence, that Democrats were attempting to “steal” the election through mail-in ballots.
