A woman went on a solo date to Longhorn Steakhouse only to have a terrible experience trying one of their new viral dishes. Now, commenters are saying she didn’t have any room to expect anything different, especially considering online reviews of the new dish.

TikToker Kae (@misskvycee) posted a clip of her trying out a new dish from Longhorn Steakhouse. In her video with over 244,000 views, however, she explained that she wasn’t a fan of the restaurant’s Creamy Parmesan Cheese Crust on lamb shops.

Usually, the topping is reserved for steaks and a few other items, with occasional promotions introducing a new Parmesan powerhouse. The restaurant has recently started allowing customers to basically parmesan-crusted everything, including lamb chops.

What happened at Longhorn Steakhouse?

Kae went to Longhorn Steakhouse to order lamb chops with a creamy parmesan cheese crust, a new add-on that’s become popular on TikTok ever since it was introduced. She mentioned in her video that she was hoping the experience would be good, although she seemed disappointed when she waited 20 minutes to sit down.

After that, she realized she didn’t actually see the lamb chops with Parmesan crust add-on on the menu. She ended up ordering a dragonfruit “martini”—the restaurant’s dragonfruit margarita. She loved that drink, and then eventually moved on to the Parmesan crust add-on, presumably asking a server about it and then ordering.

But, she didn’t end up liking it at all. When the lamb chops eventually did come in, she expressed that the parmesan add-on was “too much,” which made her move to other sides instead of eating her main course. She ended up scraping off the add-on toward the latter half of her video.

Other accounts agree with the review

On TikTok, there’s been a wide slew of reviews for the lamb chops, with many viewers of the videos expressing that they hate the concept of them. But, many TikTok content creators loved the dish. For instance, TikTok content creator Mama S. (@goldieeeex) liked the lamb chops, but her commenters didn’t.

“Cheese does not go on lamb!! [what the expletive] Longhorn??” One viewer said.

Another viewer added, “Cheese does not belong on lamb chops.”

For the most part, chefs, online foodies, and bloggers recommend using Parmesan or feta on lamb chops in moderation. Many food purists would argue that the creamy Parmesan doesn’t necessarily work with all types of meat. And, servers aren’t necessarily big fans of “parmesan crust-ing” everything.

“I’m in the kitchen at Longhorn and every damn thing is getting parm crusted,” one Redditor added. “[expletive] I even had to park crust ribs yesterday.”

Commenters ask why she even ordered the viral lamb chops in the first place

While Kae was expecting to at least be somewhat happy with the lamb chops at first, other viewers thought that she was inevitably going to not like them, disagreeing entirely with the Parmesan trend.

“Any kind of quality food coming from a quality steakhouse doesn’t need all that crap,” one viewer said. “If a place is covering their food with sauces and cheese then you know it’s cheap cuts and terrible taste. Longhorn is the Walmart of steakhouses.”

It doesn’t seem like there will be a rest for Longhorn Steakhouse’s waiting staff, though, as more and more people are ordering creamy Parmesan crusts with steaks, lamb chops, and even sides.
