Lindsey Graham Blasts Spain for Refusing to Participate in Trump’s War Against Iran

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina

Pedro Sánchez, the prime minister of Spain, has taken a firm stance against military action in Iran. To that, Senator Lindsey Graham had a few comments to spare.

“One can be against a hateful regime, such as the Iranian regime, while at the same time, being against an unjustified, dangerous military intervention outside of international law,” Sanchez said in a press conference. He added, “We must oppose a war started without authorization from the United States Congress and the United Nations Security Council, and as I have said before, it violates international law.”

Sánchez believes there is room for a negotiated solution instead of resorting to weapons. Graham, who is a supporter of Trump, believes otherwise. He wrote on X, “The current government in Spain is becoming the gold standard of pathetically weak European leadership that has lost its moral way.”

“In times like these, you learn the true nature of your allies,” Graham adds in condemnation of Spain, a longtime ally of the United States. The aggrieved senator believes history will remember Spain for siding with a position he believes to be incorrect.

A friend only in need

President Donald Trump was fantasizing about conquering Greenland and threatening tariffs against allies. Why, in these scenarios, was he not criticized for abandoning allies at their time of need?

Graham did not oppose Trump’s ambition of occupying Greenland. Instead, he said on record, “Who gives a shit who owns Greenland?” even when the issue placed the NATO alliance in jeopardy. When Trump imposed several tariffs on allied countries, Graham thought it strategic instead of damaging to both allies and Americans.

France, Germany, and the U.K., in varying degrees, have all agreed to assist the U.S. in its campaign in Iran. Trump is currently threatening to cut off trade with Spain for refusing to aid in the conflict he started. However, Sánchez remains firm on his stance: NO to war.
