Benedict falls in love with the woman in silver at a ball and makes it his mission to find her. The problem? The woman in silver is Sophie Baek, a ward turned servant of Lady Gun (Katie Leung). As her adventure to the ball is discovered, Sophie finds herself banished from her childhood home and forced to find a new job that takes her straight into the arms of Benedict Bridgerton.

Part 2 of the season just dropped on Netflix and fans are quickly finding out what happened between Sophie and Benedict. And it is a beautiful story to see.

Their story isn’t as conventional as his other siblings. Mainly in that Benedict gets the horrible idea to ask Sophie to be his “mistress” instead of admitting he loved her because she was a lower class than he was. But it lead to a beautiful story between them both overall. So why not, when given the chance, as the two of them what their favorite part of telling this love story was?

A complex yet beautiful love story

During the press conference for part 2 of Bridgerton season 4, I was lucky enough to ask a question on behalf of The Mary Sue. I asked both Thompson and Ha what their favorite part of telling the romance between Sophie and Benedict was throughout this season.

“I like the complexity of it. I think I love the variety of it,” Thompson said at the press conference. “I love the fact that they meet at this ball, and then they meet again, but he doesn’t realize it’s the same person, and that then, like, he sort of like ends up in a sort of love triangle with the same person. Like, I think there’s so much about the story that’s – in the best sense of the word – strange, and distinctive. And I think that doesn’t let up. I think throughout the show there’s real complexity in how they handle the truth and who they really are, but also how they hide.I just think that’s really…I think that’s my favorite bit, just the complexity of it.”

Ha then explained how she loved the changes that both Sophie and Benedict go through within their love story. “I really love how much a person can change you for the better and bring out the sides in you that I think you don’t realize you have or are laying dormant inside you,” she said. “And I think that’s- I find that really romantic, when you find someone who shifts- or shifts your perspective in life. And that’s a complex thing, as well, because I think people don’t want to change unless they want to, so to have someone instigate that for you I think is- that’s a really fun part of the journey.”

Bridgerton season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.
