SNL Is Celebrating Women’s History Month! Just With Men Hosting the Show

We love these guys but....for a dollar, name a woman, SNL.

Happy almost Women’s History Month! Another year of our rights being in danger, and a markedly downgraded Saturday Night Live lineup from last year’s March hosts Lady Gaga and Mikey Madison, along with performer Tate McRae.

On one hand, I get it. Heated Rivalry is doing things to people that possibly haven’t been achieved since The Beatles. Ryan Gosling is in one of the most anticipated titles of the year (Project Hail Mary) and is an SNL legend. And Harry Styles is…Harry Styles. That one honestly should have just been a musical performance, but I digress.

However, with March being Women’s History Month, you would think at least somebody would have been a woman. There are so many women who could host! Jessie Buckley, coming off her Hamnet wins, has The Bride! releasing on March 6. Emma Stone would be utterly fantastic promoting Bugonia. Rhea Seehorn is finally receiving her flowers after starring in Pluribus.

This is one of those moments where you think that surely they have to be aware of the optics of these decisions, rather than just trying to cash in off the current internet hype trains. Storrie would have been perfect in December or January, but now he’s being shuffled in solely because of the internet buzz around him.

Hosting SNL is about promotion and how many viewers a host and musical guest can bring in. But it seems like, to them, women have nothing good to promote this month. Not even a female performer, which is pure insanity.

(Miranda Priestly voice) Where is all the diversity?

One user on X put the numbers out there for season 51. “i’ve said it once (yesterday) and i’ll say it again, it is insane that 5/6 hosts for 2026 so far are white men and only 1/6 hosts and 1/6 musical guests have been women! combine that with the recent firings and exits from the cast, SNL is on a generationally white male run!”

Said another: “SNL not having any black people or any female host/musical guest during Women’s History Month (March) and Black History Month (February) is shocking.”

To quote the legendary Billy Eichner: “For a dollar, name a woman.”

One user pointed out something incredibly important to remember, though: “I’m gonna take good care of myself until March 7th just in case Ryan Gosling drops a new Papyrus sketch.” Please, Ryan. It’s my birthday.
